1. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-readable instructions executable by one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, from a first device, an indication of a content item to be shared and an indication of an intended recipient designated to receive a communication related to at least a portion of the content item;
sending the communication to the intended recipient, the communication including an identifier of a location at which to access the at least the portion of the content item;
receiving, from a second device, a request to access the at least the portion of the content item, wherein the request is received based, at least in part, on the identifier of the location included in the communication;
determining an amount of content of the at least the portion of the content item to be shared;
comparing the amount of content with a maximum amount of content of the content item that is permitted to be shared by a maximum content amount indication received from a content provider associated with the content item; and
sending, to the second device and based at least in part on the request and the maximum content amount indication, at least one sample portion of the content item corresponding to at least the portion of the content item.

Abstract
In some implementations, a user may use an electronic device to sample and/or share a sample of content of a content item. Furthermore, the electronic device may display a consumption representation in connection with the content item that may represent locations of parts of content that have been received as samples out of an expanse of content of the content item. In some examples, a user may select a portion of the content to sample based at least in part on one or more aspects or features of the content item, such as may be represented in a content representation. Further, a content provider may track an amount of content that is sent to the electronic device or other electronic devices associated with the same user account to limit the amount of content that may be provided as samples for each content item.

one or more processors; and one or more computer-readable media storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including; determining one or more segments of a content item available as samples of the content item; receiving, from a user device, a request for a sample portion of the content item, the request comprising at least a start location of the sample portion; determining that the start location is within at least one of the one or more segments available as samples of the content item; determining a user account associated with the user device; determining that an amount of sample content previously sent to the user device or another device associated with the user account, when combined with an amount of sample content of the sample portion, is less than a total amount of permitted sample content; and sending, to the user device, the sample portion of the content item. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9)
