1. A method for operating a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), the method comprising:

  • providing a first Digital Remote Unit (DRU) and a second DRU, wherein the first DRU and the second DRU are operable to send and receive wireless radio signals, wherein the first DRU is associated with a first geographic area and the second DRU is associated with a second geographic area adjacent to the first geographic area;

    providing a Digital Access Unit (DAU) operable to communicate with the first DRU and the second DRU via an optical signal, wherein the DAU is coupled to at least one sector of a base transceiver station (BTS);

    receiving first uplink signals at the first DRU;

    monitoring, at the first DRU, train activity in the first geographic area;

    increasing a first gain coefficient associated with the first DRU in response to determining an increase in monitored train activity in the first geographic area;

    scaling the first uplink signals received at the first DRU by the first gain coefficient;

    transmitting, to the DAU, the first scaled uplink signals;

    decreasing the first gain coefficient associated with the first DRU in response to determining a decrease in monitored train activity in the first geographic area;

    increasing a second gain coefficient associated with the second DRU in response to determining an increase in monitored train activity in the second geographic area;

    receiving second uplink signals at the second DRU;

    scaling the second uplink signals received at the second DRU by the second gain coefficient; and

    transmitting, to the DAU, the second scaled uplink signals.
