1. A device, comprising:

  • one or more memories; and

    one or more processors, communicatively coupled to the one or more memories, to;

    receive network traffic for transmission in a campus network,the campus network including a plurality of aggregation devices and a plurality of satellite devices, andthe plurality of satellite devices being grouped into a plurality of satellite clusters of the campus network;

    generate a packet header for the network traffic,the packet header including an E-channel identifier (ECID) with a quantity of N bits (N>

    10) reserved to address a packet to a particular satellite device of the plurality of satellite devices and to a particular port of a plurality of ports of the particular satellite device,a configurable portion of the ECID including 4 bits to identify at least one aggregation device of the plurality of aggregation devices;

    transmit the network traffic using the packet header based on generating the packet header.
