Proximity-based geofenced content sharing scheme
First Claim
1. A non-volatile machine-readable medium storing a program having a set of instructions which when executed by a processor will cause the processor to:
- receive a request from a first of respective mobile computing devices, requesting admission to the network;
authenticate a right of access to the network for the first mobile computing device;
receive input from the first mobile computing device designating a geofence area wherein the geofence area is a geographic area around the first mobile computing device;
generate geographic coordinates of the geofence area;
detect and identify all other of the mobile computing devices present within the geofence area using a near-range location protocol;
authenticate a right of access to the network of the other mobile computing devices;
notify all authenticated other mobile computing devices present within the geofence area of the existence of the geofence area without input from users of the authenticated other mobile computing devices;
enable access to sharable media by the authenticated first and other mobile computing devices based only on their location within the geofence area, wherein the sharable media is media created by the authenticated mobile computing devices while present within the geofence area;
restrict access to sharable media based upon preset permissions established by each authenticated mobile computing device; and
allow the preset permissions to tag media as unlocked or locked, wherein media that is locked may be identifiable but not accessible to other authenticated mobile computing devices.

Abstract
There is disclosed herein a non-volatile machine-readable medium storing a program, a system and method for enabling proximity-based, peer-to-peer sharing of media in which a first device having a wireless communication surrounding the device detects other wireless devices within the region. Communication connections are formed between the wireless devices and a list of the authenticated connections is maintained. Without input from a user, media is shared between the individual devices on the authenticated connections list and a remote server, subject to permissions pre-set by the individual devices. Devices not included in the list of authenticated connections are blocked from accessing the media. Access to the media is available for a period of time, after which time access to the media is blocked for all devices.

9. A method for enabling proximity-based, peer-to-peer sharing of media comprising:
-
receiving a request from a first of respective mobile computing devices, requesting admission to the network; authenticating a right of access to the network for the first mobile computing device; receiving input from the first mobile computing device designating a geofence area wherein the geofence area is a geographic area around the first mobile computing device; generating geographic coordinates of the geofence area; detecting and identifying all other of the mobile computing devices present within the geofence area using a near-range location protocol; authenticating a right of access to the network of the other mobile computing devices; notifying all authenticated other mobile computing devices present within the geofence area of the existence of the geofence area without input from users of the authenticated other mobile computing devices; enabling access to sharable media by the authenticated first and other mobile computing devices based only on their location within the geofence area, wherein the sharable media is media created by the authenticated mobile computing devices while present within the geofence area; and restricting access to sharable media based upon preset permissions established by each authenticated mobile computing device; restricting access to sharable media based upon preset permissions established by each authenticated mobile computing device wherein the preset permissions further comprise allowing media to be unlocked or locked, wherein media that is locked may be identifiable but not accessible to other authenticated mobile computing devices. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
