Abstract

A reasoning engine is disclosed. Contemplated reasoning engines acquire data relating to one or more aspects of various environments. Inference engines within the reasoning engines review the acquire data, historical or current, to generate one or more hypotheses about how the aspects of the environments might be correlated, if at all. The reasoning engine can attempt to validate the hypotheses through controlling acquisition of the environment data.

Claims

1. A computer-based reasoning service platform comprising:

an environment interface configured to obtain environment data from a room, wherein the environment data is associated with data objects of a data space; and

at least one inference engine coupled with the environment interface and configured to;

receive the environment data from the environment interface;

recognize at least two data objects of the data space based, at least in part, from the environment data;

select one or more reasoning rules sets from a plurality of reasoning rules sets as a function of the data space and object attributes of the recognized at least two data objects, wherein the one or more reasoning rules sets are selected based on a context of the room;

establish a hypothesis according to the at least one selected reasoning rules set, the hypothesis comprising a conclusion representing that the at least two data objects have a correlation other than being in the data space; and

present the conclusion to a user via a presentation module.

2. The platform of claim 1, wherein the room corresponds to a building location.

3. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment interface comprises at least one of the following:

a mobile computing device, a gaming system, a device controller, an appliance, a garment, and a web page.

4. The platform of claim 1, wherein the presentation module comprises a browser-enabled computer.

5. The platform of claim 1, wherein the presentation module comprises a mobile device.

6. The platform of claim 1, wherein the presentation module comprises a non-mobile device within the room.

7. The platform of claim 1, wherein the presentation module is at another location outside of the room.

8. The platform of claim 1, wherein the at least one inference engine comprises at least one of a cloud-based server and a virtual server.

9. The platform of claim 1, wherein the at least one inference engine comprises a search engine.

10. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment data comprises at least one of text data, audio data, image data, and video data.

11. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment data comprises one or more modalities of data including one or more of visual, audible, and tactical data.

12. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment data includes a voice inquiry.

13. The platform of claim 1, wherein the obtaining of the environment data comprises recognizing at least one utterance as an inquiry.

14. The platform of claim 1, wherein the at least one inference engine is further configured to aggregate environment data.

15. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment data includes an observation of a person'"'"'s behavior.

16. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment interface is configured to acquire environment data from one of an appliance or a building.

17. The platform of claim 1, wherein the environment data includes user identification data.

18. The platform of claim 1, further comprising generating the data objects based on analyzed aspects of the environment data.

19. The platform of claim 18, wherein the analyzed aspects are bound to one or more of the user, a patient, a location, a time, or a device within the room.

20. The platform of claim 18, wherein the analyzed aspects include observed changes in the room.

The platform of claim 1, wherein the conclusion is based on one or more of inductive rules, deductive rules, abductive rules, ampliative reasoning rules, case-based reasoning rules, metaphorical mapping rules, forward chaining rules, backward chaining rules, analogical reasoning rules, cause-and-effect reasoning rules, defeasible reasoning rules, indefeasible reasoning rules, comparative reasoning rules, conditional reasoning rules, modal logic rules, set-based reasoning rules, systemic reasoning rules, syllogistic reasoning rules, probabilistic reasoning rules, and paraconsistent reasoning rules.

22. The platform of claim 1, wherein the conclusion comprises at least one software command.

23. The platform of claim 22, wherein the at least one inference engine is further configured to generate or transmit the at least one software command to at least one device within the room.

24. The platform of claim 23, wherein the at least one device comprises at least one of the environment interface and the presentation module.

25. The platform of claim 23, wherein the at least one software command configures the at least one device to collect additional environment data.

26. The platform of claim 25, wherein the at least one inference engine is further configured to validate the hypothesized conclusion based on the additional environment data.

27. The platform of claim 1, wherein the at least one inference engine is further configured to establish the conclusion based on at least one learned preference of the user.

28. The platform of claim 1, wherein the at least one inference engine is further configured to establish the conclusion based on at least one previously reasoned conclusion.

29. The platform of claim 1, wherein the user is a patient.

30. The platform of claim 29, wherein the conclusion includes a patient survey.

31. The platform of claim 29, wherein the conclusion relates to a patient.

32. The platform of claim 1, wherein the data space includes a medical data space.

33. The platform of claim 32, wherein the at least two data objects include a change in a patient'"'"'s biometrics.
