Information-market system
First Claim
1. A system comprising:
- a first set of two or more computer systems, each including one or more processors and one or more memories and each accessing electronically encoded information stored in one or more mass-storage devices and/or mass-storage appliances, that each transmits electronically encoded advertisements to remote computer systems;
a second set of two or more computer systems, each including one or more processors and one or more memories and each accessing electronically encoded information stored in one or more mass-storage devices and/or mass-storage appliances, that each transmits electronically encoded content to remote computer systems;
a third set of two or more computer systems and/or other processor-controlled devices, each including one or more processors and one or more memories and each accessing electronically encoded information stored in one or more mass-storage devices and/or mass-storage appliances, that each receives electronically encoded content with embedded electronically encoded advertisements and displays the content and advertisements on a display device; and
a fourth set of one or more computer systems, each including one or more processors and one or more memories and each accessing electronically encoded information stored in one or more mass-storage devices and/or mass-storage appliances, that each processes transactions wherein the transactions includetransactions in which a computer system of the third set of computer systems accepts particular electronically encoded advertisements, andtransactions in which a computer system of the third set of computer systems accepts particular electronically encoded content; and
a fifth set of computer systems, each including one or more processors and one or more memories and each accessing electronically encoded information stored in one or more mass-storage devices and/or mass-storage appliances, that eachreceives electronically encoded content items from computers of the second set of computers, electronically encoded advertisements from computers of the first set of computers, and transactions from computers of the fourth set of computers, andcombines one or more of the received electronically encoded advertisements with one or more of the received electronically encoded content items according to two or more received transactions to produce electronically encoded content with embedded electronically encoded advertisements that the computer system of the fifth set of computer systems sends to a computer system of the third set of two or more computer systems that is associated with the two or more received transactions.

Abstract
The current application is directed to methods and systems that provide an information market in which information producers sell information, advertisers purchase consumption of advertisements, and information consumers purchase information from information producers and receive compensation from advertisers through automated and semi-automated information-market transactions. The information market provides a transaction-based marketplace for the provision and consumption of information in much the same way as various types of financial markets provide a marketplace for cost-effective exchange of goods and services. The transaction-based information market provides flexibility and control to both information providers and information consumers as well as the cost efficiency of a transaction-based information marketplace.
