1. A method for confirming proper administration of medication, comprising:
- providing on a display of a local device one or more instruction prompts instructing a user how to follow one or more predefined movement sequences associated with proper medication administration;
capturing one or more video activity sequences by the local device of a user following the one or more instruction prompts instructing the user to perform the one or more predefined movement sequences, including at least an instruction prompt to properly position a medication to be administered within a field of view of the local device;
storing the captured one or more video activity sequences to a non-transitory computer readable storage medium of the local device;
determining by a computer recognition technique differences between the stored one or more activity sequences and the identified predefined movement sequences;
providing one or more further instructions via the display of the local device in real time if differences are determined by the computer recognition technique between the stored one or more activity sequences and the identified one or more predefined movement sequences, and it is therefore determined that the user has failed to properly perform the one or more predefined movement sequences; and
confirming in real time that the user has properly performed the one or more predefined movement sequences in accordance with the one or more further instructions, thus confirming proper medication administration, if no differences are determined.

Abstract
A system and method of confirming administration of medication is provided. The method comprises the steps of receiving information identifying a particular medication prescription regimen, determining one or more procedures for administering such prescription regimen and identifying one or more activity sequences associated with such procedures. Activity sequences of actual administration of such prescription regimen are captured and then compared to the identified activity sequences to determine differences therebetween. A notice is provided if differences are determined.

9. A method for confirming proper administration of medication, comprising:
-
receiving information identifying a particular medication prescription regimen provided by an authenticated medical professional; determining one or more procedures for administration of the medication in accordance with the identified medication prescription regimen from one or more databases; modifying the one or more procedures, if necessary, by the authenticated medical professional; providing on a display of a local device a set of interactive instructions and associated instruction prompts instructing a user how to follow one or more predefined movement sequences associated with such determined medication administration procedures; capturing one or more video activity sequences by a video capture device of the local device of the user following the one or more instruction prompts displayed on the display to the user instructing the user to perform the one or more predefined movement sequences, including at least an instruction prompt to properly position a medication to be administered within a field of view of the local device; storing the captured one or more video activity sequences to a non-transitory computer readable storage medium; comparing by a computer processor in real time employing a computer recognition technique the one or more stored video activity sequences to the identified predefined movement sequences to determine differences therebetween; providing one or more further interactive instructions to the user via the display of the local device in real time if differences are determined by the computer recognition technique, the one or more further interactive instructions further instructing a user how to properly administer the medication during a current medication administration session in accordance with the one or more predefined movement sequences; and confirming in real time that the user has properly performed the one or more predefined movement sequences, thus confirming proper medication administration, if no differences are determined. - View Dependent Claims (10)

11. A system for confirming administration of medication, comprising:
-
a storage device associated with a local device storing a set of instructions in accordance with which medication is to be administered and one or more identified predefined movement sequences associated with such instructions; a processor associated with the local device configured to perform the steps of; providing on an associated output device one or more instruction prompts associated with the set of instructions encouraging a user how to follow the one or more predefined movement sequences; capturing one or more video activity sequences of the user following the one or more instruction prompts displayed on the output device by an associated video capture device, including at least an instruction prompt to properly position a medication to be administered within a field of view of the local device; storing the captured video activity sequences to the storage medium associated with the local device; and comparing in real time employing a computer recognition technique the stored video activity sequences to the identified predefined movement sequences; wherein the output device associated with the processor provides in real time one or more further instructions if differences are determined by the computer recognition technique between the stored video activity sequences and the identified predefined movement sequences in the comparing step by the processor, the one or more further instructions further instructing a user how to properly administer the medication during a current medication administration session in accordance with the one or more predefined movement sequences; and wherein the processor confirms in real time that the user has properly performed the one or more predefined movement sequences in response to the further instructions, thus confirming proper medication administration if no differences are determined. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13)

14. A method for confirming proper administration of medication, comprising:
-
determining one or more procedures for administering a prescription regimen in accordance with prescription information provided by an authenticated medical professional; modifying the procedures, if necessary, by the authenticated medical professional; providing a set of instructions including one or more instruction prompts instructing a user to perform a predefined movement sequence in accordance with which the prescription regimen is to be administered; providing via an output device of a local device one or more of the one or more instruction prompts instructing a user how to perform the predefined movement sequence; capturing appropriate visual indicia by a video capture device associated with the local device of the user following the one or more instruction prompts and performing the predefined movement sequence, including at least an instruction prompt to properly position a medication to be administered within a field of view of the video capture device; storing the captured visual indicia to a non-transitory computer readable storage medium of the local device; comparing in real time employing a computer recognition technique the stored captured visual indicia to the predefined visual indicia by a computer processor associated with the local device to determine differences therebetween; providing one or more further instructions via the output device in real time if differences are determined by the computer processor employing the computer recognition technique, and it is therefore further determined that the user has failed to follow the one or more instruction prompts and perform the predefined movement sequence; and confirming that the user has properly performed the predefined movement sequence, thus confirming proper medication administration if no differences are determined. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
