1. A transaction system for processing transactions comprising:

  • an electronic verification system at a transaction location of an individual or a merchant'"'"'s network; and

    a central processing system comprising;

    one or more information stores of users authorized to use the transaction system;

    one or more information stores of token information received from issuing entities authorized to utilize the transaction system; and

    a processing system configured to communicate with the one or more information stores of the electronic verification system;

    the central processing system configured to utilize a merchant'"'"'s network to transmit information to and from the electronic verification system to a transaction facilitating entity;

    the central processing system configured to send and receive token information received from an issuing entity, the token information representative of a transaction instrument issued to the individual by an issuing entity;

    the central processing system configured to access the one or more information stores of users;

    the central processing system configured to send and receive information from the electronic verification system;

    wherein the central processing system and the electronic verification system are self-contained at the transaction location; and

    the electronic verification system comprises a biometric data reader configured to obtain biometric data from an individual, wherein the electronic verification system is configured to;

    receive the obtained biometric data;

    generate a first comparison result by comparing the obtained biometric data with biometric data associated with a biometric information stored in the one or more information stores of users; and

    transmit to the central processing system information representing the first comparison result;

    wherein the central processing system is configured to;

    transmit the first comparison result information and the token information representative of the transaction instrument being processed to the transaction facilitating entity,receive a second comparison result from the transaction facilitating entity to accept or deny the transaction; and

    transmit a decision by a display.
