1. A measurement transmitter for processing input and output signals for a multisensor system, comprising:

  • a processor;

    at least two sensors, each sensor embodied to measure at least one physical quantity and to communicate digitally bi-directionally;

    a logic chip including a central I/O controller, the logic chip further including a predetermined number of function modules to which a plurality of sensors and output circuits are connectable, wherein the central I/O controller is in communication with the processor and each sensor, and wherein the predetermined number of function modules includes at least a function module for each sensor;

    a transmission line for each sensor, wherein each sensor is connected to its function module via its transmission line for the transmission of data; and

    a plurality of expansion blocks connected with the processor, each expansion block including an identification unit for identification of the expansion block and further including either input circuitry configured to connect with the sensors or an output circuit,wherein the central I/O controller is configured to enable communication between the processor and the central I/O controller at a different communication rate than between the central I/O controller and each sensor, andwherein the processor is configured to connect each expansion block with at least one function module contained in the logic chip using a configuration bitstream, andwherein the processor is further configured to determine a suitable configuration bit stream based on the expansion block identification.
