1. An intravascular balloon catheter device comprising:
- an inner member;
an outer member disposed about the inner member and comprising a balloon;
a sheath disposed about the outer member adapted for movement relative to the balloon so as to selectively expose some or all of the balloon for inflation;
a clamp configured to selectively secure the sheath at a desired position relative to the balloon; and
a balloon recapture element comprising rifling located on the inner surface of the sheath;
wherein the balloon recapture element further comprises at least one pleat located on the outer surface of the balloon;
wherein the pleats are configured to mate with the rifling.

Abstract
An intravascular balloon catheter device is disclosed having an inner member, an outer member disposed about the inner member and further comprising a balloon. A sheath is disposed about the outer member that moves relative to the balloon so as to selectively expose some or all of the balloon for inflation. A clamp may be used to selectively secure the sheath at a desired position relative to the balloon. A balloon recapture element may permit incremental adjustment to the balloon length and facilitate balloon recapture.

6. An intravascular balloon catheter device comprising:
-
an outer member; a balloon affixed to a distal end of the outer member and configured to move between an inflated and a deflated state; an inner member disposed within the outer member; a sheath disposed about the outer member configured for movement relative to the balloon so as to selectively expose some or all of the balloon for inflation; a mechanical stop configured to prevent the balloon from fully escaping the sheath; and a balloon recapture element comprising rifling located on the inner surface of the sheath; wherein the balloon recapture element further comprises at least one pleat located on the outer surface of the balloon; wherein the pleats are configured to mate with the rifling. - View Dependent Claims (7)

8. An intravascular balloon catheter device comprising:
-
an inner member; an outer member disposed about the inner member and comprising a balloon having a plurality of pleats located on the outer surface thereof; a sheath disposed about the outer member adapted for movement relative to the balloon so as to selectively expose some or all of the balloon for inflation, wherein said sheath comprises rifling on the inner surface of said sheath configured to mate with the pleats, and a funnel-shaped tip on the distal end of the sheath, said funnel-shaped tip having a smoothed or tapered distal edge configured to facilitate resheathing of the balloon; a clamp configured to selectively secure the sheath at a desired position relative to the balloon; a tapered insertion tip disposed about an end of the balloon configured to provide a substantially watertight seal between said tip and said sheath when said tip is abutted to said sheath; a drug coating provided on the outer surface of the balloon; and a lubricious coating provided between the inner surface of the sheath and the outer surface of the balloon.
