1. A method of managing electronic information for one or more users in client/server architecture, comprising:
- providing a management system that includes a server, a database which links and maintains a record of all electronic files stored on the server using the concept of a plurality of electronic folders, each electronic folder containing a number of contextual searchable fields within the database and maintains a list of electronic files linked to the electronic folder, each electronic file being linked to associated searchable data stored in the database, wherein an electronic file is linkable to several electronic folders, and multiple electronic files associated with an electronic folder are linked together so that a first electronic file within the electronic folder is accessible from a second electronic file within the electronic folder;
automatically storing and associating, simultaneously, at least one computer file or email received from a source external to said management system with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders in said management system, or automatically storing and associating, simultaneously, at least one computer file or email received from a source external to the management system with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders and one or more of a calendar, a scheduler, and an agenda in said management system; and
providing readable and/or writeable access to at least one computer file or email, whereinthe readable and/or writeable access to the at least one computer file or email is provided to a plurality of users simultaneously by associating the plurality of users to an electronic folder linked to the at least one computer file or email, andsaid association is a first classification of said at least one computer file or email.

10. A processor-implemented document management method, comprising:

obtaining, automatically, digital content from an external data source to be stored in a document management system, the document management system including a server, a database which links and maintains a record of all electronic files stored on the server using the concept of a plurality of electronic folders, each electronic folder containing a number of contextual searchable fields within the database and maintaining a list of electronic files linked to the electronic folder, each electronic file being linked to associated searchable data stored in the database, wherein an electronic file is linkable to several electronic folders, and multiple electronic files associated with an electronic folder are linked together so that a first electronic file within the electronic folder is accessible from a second electronic file within the electronic folder; determining a data type of the digital content; indexing metadata from the digital content based on the determined data type and generating a metadata index reference; indexing content data from the digital content based on the determined data type and generating a content index reference; storing the metadata and the content data of the digital content in the document management system; automatically storing and associating, simultaneously, the metadata index reference and the content index reference with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders in a document management system index for references to the digital content, or automatically storing and associating, simultaneously, the metadata index reference and the content index reference with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders and one or more of a calendar;
a scheduler, and an agenda in a document management system index for references to the digital content; andproviding readable and/or writeable access to the digital content;

a server; a database which links and maintains a record of all electronic files stored on the server using the concept of a plurality of electronic folders, each electronic folder containing a number of contextual searchable fields within the database and maintaining a list of electronic files linked to the electronic folder, each electronic file being linked to associated searchable data stored in the database, wherein an electronic file is linkable to several electronic folders, and multiple electronic files associated with an electronic folder are linked together so that a first electronic file within the electronic folder is accessible from a second electronic file within the electronic folder; a processor; and a memory disposed in communication with the processor and storing processor-issuable instructions to; obtain, automatically, digital content from an external data source to a document management system, the document management system including the plurality of electronic folders each containing a number of contextual searchable fields; determine a data type of the digital content; index metadata from the digital content based on the determined data type and generating a metadata index reference; index content data from the digital content based on the determined data type and generating a content index reference; store the metadata and the content data of the digital content in the document management system; automatically store and associate, simultaneously, the metadata index reference and the content index reference with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders in a document management system index for references to the digital content, or automatically store and associate, simultaneously, the metadata index reference and the content index reference with at least one of said plurality of electronic folders and one or more of a calendar, a scheduler, and an agenda in a document management system index for references to the digital content; and provide readable and/or writeable access to the digital content, wherein the readable and/or writeable access to the digital content provided to a plurality of users simultaneously by associating the plurality of users to an electronic folder linked to the digital content. - View Dependent Claims (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39)
