System and method for a trading interface incorporating a chart
First Claim
1. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by an electronic processor cause the electronic processor to:
- receive market data for a tradeable object, the market data identifying an inside market for the tradeable object, the inside market having a highest bid price and a lowest ask price for the tradeable object;
display, via a trading interface, a chart region and a market grid region being in alignment with the chart region, the chart region being defined by a time axis and a first value axis having a first plurality of values, the market grid region having a second value axis with a second plurality of values being an adjustable subset of the first plurality of values;
display, via the trading interface, historical market data for the tradeable object in the chart region, the historical market data being mapped to the first plurality of values;
display, via the trading interface, a plurality of areas in the market grid region, each area of the plurality of areas being configured to receive user input and responsively send trade orders to an electronic exchange, the plurality of areas corresponding to the second plurality of values;
adjust the second plurality of values to a different subset of the first plurality of values in response to receiving a first user input via an input device to adjust the second plurality of values to the different subset of the first plurality of values; and
submit a trade order to the electronic exchange in response to receiving a second user input via the input device that selects a selected area of the plurality of areas to submit the trade order for the tradeable object at a price determined according to the selected area of the plurality of areas.

Abstract
A graphical interface and method are provided for displaying market information corresponding to a tradable object. One graphical interface includes a chart region for displaying historical market data in relation to a first value axis, and a market grid region in alignment with the chart region. The market grid region comprises a plurality of areas for receiving commands from a user input device to send trade orders, and the areas are displayed in relation to a second value axis. A plurality of values displayed along the second value axis is a subset of values displayed in relation to the first value axis, and can be modified to a new plurality of values that corresponds to a new subset of values on the first value axis.
