Method and system for image processing to determine patient-specific blood flow characteristics
First Claim
1. A system for image processing to determine cardiovascular information of a patient, the system comprising:
- at least one computer system configured to;
receive non-invasively generated patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient'"'"'s heart;
create a three-dimensional model of blood flow representing at least a portion of a vessel of the patient'"'"'s heart using the non-invasively generated patient-specific data, wherein the three-dimensional model includes one or more boundary conditions of the vessel;
determine, non-invasively, a plurality of values of a blood flow characteristic within the vessel based on a simulation of blood flow in the three-dimensional model using the one or more boundary conditions of the vessel, the blood flow characteristic comprising a fractional flow reserve;
generate (1) an electronic visual representation of the vessel, (2) one or more indicators of the value of the blood flow characteristic, from the non-invasively determined plurality of values, on a corresponding portion of the vessel, and (3) a treatment option for treating the vessel, wherein the treatment option is automatically generated based on a comparison of one or more indicators on the corresponding portion of the vessel to a predetermined threshold; and
upon receiving an input from a user corresponding to a location along the vessel, update the electronic visual representation to display an indicator of the value of the blood flow characteristic corresponding to the location along the vessel.

Abstract
Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient. The system may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient'"'"'s heart, and create a three-dimensional model representing at least a portion of the patient'"'"'s heart based on the patient-specific data. The at least one computer system may be further configured to create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic of the patient'"'"'s heart and determine a fractional flow reserve within the patient'"'"'s heart based on the three-dimensional model and the physics-based model.
