1. An injection device for delivering a therapeutic substance to a subject comprising:
- a reservoir having at least a pre-selected volume of the therapeutic substance; and
a fluid conduit in fluid communication to the reservoir and sized to deliver the pre-selected volume of the substance within or beneath the skin solely into a first compartment, said first compartment having a volume capacity,wherein the pre-selected volume of the reservoir is selected such that it is greater than said volume capacity of the first compartment, whereby when the volume of the therapeutic substance that is delivered to the first compartment exceeds the volume capacity of the first compartment, the therapeutic substance flows into a second compartment, andwherein said first and second compartments afford therapeutic substance differing pharmacokinetics, which enhance the effectiveness of the therapeutic substance in terms of a resultant composite pharmacokinetics compared to delivery to a single compartment.
