Abstract

Briefly, methods and/or apparatuses for implicit traffic engineering, such as for the Internet, are described.

Claims

1. A method of managing at least one private network, the method comprising:

dynamically configuring without human intervention the at least one private network via a controller to execute the dynamic configuring;

wherein the dynamically configuring the at least one private network comprises dynamically reconfiguring the at least one private network based at least in part on a measured increase in network utilization, a measured increase in network latency, a measured reduction in network bandwidth or any combinations thereof;

wherein the at least one private network comprises two or more separate logical broadcast domains in which the at least one private network is able to communicate selected signal packets from one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains transmitted to one network device in another of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains via at least one tunnel such that the at least one private network is able to communicate the selected signal packets from the one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains transmitted to the one network device in another of the two or more separate logical domains as if the logical broadcast domains are not logically separate, and while by-passing use of a routing table with respect to the selected signal packets.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamically reconfiguring the at least one private network includes without deploying additional hardware infrastructure.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamically reconfiguring the at least one private network includes without pre-planned routing of signal packets.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamically reconfiguring includes:

monitoring signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

compiling statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

deploying additional resources along relatively higher performing networking routes based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the various available network routes includes at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamically reconfiguring includes:

monitoring signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

compiling statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

deploying fewer resources along relatively lower performing networking routes based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the various available network routes includes at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamically reconfiguring includes reallocation of network resources and/or geographical reconfiguration.

9. An article comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by a computing device comprising a controller to manage at least one private network;

wherein to manage the at least one private network includes to dynamically configure without human intervention the at least one private network via the controller to execute the instructions;

wherein to dynamically configure the at least one private network comprises to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network based at least in part on a measured increase in network utilization, a measured increase in network latency, a measured reduction in network bandwidth or any combinations thereof;

wherein the at least one private network is to comprise two or more separate logical broadcast domains in which the at least one private network is able to communicate selected signal packets from one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains to be transmitted to one network device in another of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains via at least one tunnel such that the at least one private network is able to communicate the selected signal packets from the one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains to be transmitted to the one network device in another of the two or more separate logical domains as if the logical broadcast domains are not logically separate, and in a manner to by-pass use of a routing table with respect to the selected signal packets.

10. The article of claim 9, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network is to include without deployment of additional hardware infrastructure.

11. The article of claim 9, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network is to include without pre-planned routing of signal packets.

12. The article of claim 9, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that to dynamically reconfigure is to include:

to monitor signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

to compile statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

to deploy additional resources along network routes of relatively higher performance based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

13. The article of claim 12, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that the various available network routes are to include at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

14. The article of claim 13, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that to dynamically reconfigure is to include:

to monitor signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

to compile statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

to deploy few resources along network routes of relatively lower performance based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

15. The article of claim 14, wherein the instructions to be further executable so that the various available network routes are to include at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

16. The article of claim 9, wherein instructions to be further executable so as to reallocate network resources and/or reconfigure geographically.

17. A system comprising:

at least one computing device to manage at least one private network;

wherein to manage the at least one private network includes to dynamically configure without human intervention the at least one private network via the at least one computing device;

wherein to dynamically configure the at least one private network comprises to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network based at least in part on a measured increase in network utilization, a measured increase in network latency, a measured reduction in network bandwidth or any combinations thereof;

wherein the at least one private network is to comprise two or more separate logical broadcast domains in which the at least one private network is able to communicate selected signal packets from one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains to be transmitted to one network device in another of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains via at least one tunnel such that the at least one private network is able to communicate the selected signal packets from the one network device in one of the two or more separate logical broadcast domains to be transmitted to the one network device in another of the two or more separate logical domains as if the logical broadcast domains are not logically separate, and in a manner to by-pass use of a routing table with respect to the selected signal packets.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network includes to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network without deployment of additional hardware infrastructure.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network includes to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network without signal packets having pre-planned routes.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network includes:

to monitor signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

to compile statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

to deploy additional resources along network routes of relatively higher performance based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the various available network routes include at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

22. The system of claim 17, wherein to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network includes:

to monitor signal packet traffic along various available network routes;

to compile statistics regarding the signal packet traffic along the available network routes; and

to deploy fewer resources along network routes of relatively lower performance based at least in part on the compiled statistics.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the various available network routes include at least one of the following:

over at least two different routes, over a complete loop, over an entire private network, over sub-networks, over a logical broadcast domain, between any two or more nodes, or any combinations thereof.

24. The system of claim 17, wherein to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network includes to dynamically reconfigure the at least one private network so as to reallocate network resources and/or reconfigure geographically.
