1. A method, comprising:
- transmitting, by a first waveguide system, first guided electromagnetic waves along a physical component of a transportation system used by a vehicle of the transportation system, wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves are guided by the physical component of the transportation system; and
receiving, by the first waveguide system, second guided electromagnetic waves propagating along the physical component of the transportation system, wherein the second guided electromagnetic waves are guided by the physical component of the transportation system, wherein a second waveguide system transmits the second guided electromagnetic waves, and wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves and the second guided electromagnetic waves are configured to not substantially interfere with each other, wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves and the second guided electromagnetic waves propagate along the physical component of the transportation system without requiring a circuit.
