1. An intubation device comprising:
- a) a distally deflectable and proximally flexible stylet having a distal end, a proximal end and a deflectable section disposed therebetween and proximate to the distal end, the stylet further comprising;
i) a first flexible shaft having a distal end and a proximal end; and
ii) a second flexible shaft having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of the second flexible shaft being coupled to the distal end of the first flexible shaft at the distal end of the stylet, wherein application of opposing forces to the first and second flexible shafts produces angular deflection in the deflectable section; and
b) a malleable rod stylet removably disposed within a lumen of the distally deflectable and proximally flexible stylet and extending along the length of the first or second flexible shaft, wherein the rod is configured such that it is capable of having a predetermined bend to facilitate insertion to a larynx, and is removable to facilitate insertion into a trachea.
