- a projection layer comprising an inner layer and an external layer, wherein the external layer is between the inner layer and a projector, wherein the projector is external to the projection layer and the projection layer is in front of the projector, the external layer including a plurality of pixels that is electronically controllable to vary appearance of at least one of the plurality of pixels in coordination with an image projected onto the projection layer from the projector;
wherein the inner layer is configured to display as a solid white surface and each pixel of the plurality of pixels of the external layer is individually addressable to be transparent, black, or grayscale;
orwherein the inner layer is configured to display as a solid black surface and each pixel of the plurality of pixels of the external layer is individually addressable to be transparent, white, or grayscale.
