1. A method of deploying one or more surgical meshes comprising:
- providing an actuation unit including a handle assembly a shaft extending from the handle assembly, and a shipping lock releasably secured to the handle assembly;
providing a mesh deployment unit configured for releasable connection to the actuation unit, the mesh deployment unit including a lock member for securing the mesh deployment unit in an expanded configuration;
connecting the mesh deployment unit to the actuation unit; and
separating the shipping lock from the handle assembly.

Abstract
A mesh deployment device having separate mesh deployment and actuation units is provided. A mesh deployment device includes an actuation unit and a mesh deployment unit configured to be releasably secured to the actuation unit. When the mesh deployment unit is secured to the actuation unit, a first actuation of the actuation unit moves the mesh deployment unit from an expanded condition to a collapsed condition and a second actuation of the actuation unit moves the mesh deployment unit from the collapsed condition to the expanded condition. The mesh deployment device may further include a mesh releasably secured to the mesh deployment unit. A third actuation of the actuation unit may release the mesh from the mesh deployment unit. Also provided is a kit including multiple mesh deployment units.

securing a mesh deployment unit to an actuation unit, the mesh deployment unit including a mesh releasably affixed to a frame assembly, a shaft assembly extending from the frame assembly, and a lock member releasably secured to the shaft assembly for securing the frame assembly in an expanded configuration; separating the lock member from the shaft assembly of the mesh deployment unit to permit collapse of the frame assembly; collapsing the frame assembly; inserting the collapsed frame assembly into a patient; expanding the frame assembly within a patient; and releasing the mesh from the frame assembly. - View Dependent Claims (19)

providing an actuation unit including a handle assembly and a shaft extending from the handle assembly; providing a mesh deployment unit configured for releasable connection to the actuation unit, the mesh deployment unit including a lock member for securing the mesh deployment unit in an expanded configuration; and connecting the mesh deployment unit to the actuation unit; and securing the mesh deployment unit to the actuation unit by advancing a retaining sleeve of the actuation unit into engagement with a linear actuator of the mesh deployment unit to cause the release of the lock member.
