1. An operating method of a relay device, the method comprising:
- receiving, by the relay device from a source device, a message for beamforming between the source device and the relay device;
performing, by the relay device, a first beamforming process with the source device;
transmitting, by the relay device to a destination device, a message for beamforming between the destination device and the relay device; and
performing, by the relay device, a second beamforming process with the destination device,wherein the source device is configured to;
perform a third beamforming process with the destination device;
obtain a channel status of a detour path between the source device, the relay device, and the destination device as a result of the first beamforming process and the second beamforming process;
obtain a channel status of a direct path between the source device and the destination device as a result of the third beamforming process;
compare information associated with the channel status of the detour path with the information associated with the channel status of the direct path; and
transmit data to the destination device via whichever one of the detour path and the direct path has a better channel status.

Abstract
Provided is a method and apparatus for setting a detour path in a wideband high frequency wireless system using a centralized Media Access Control (MAC) protocol. Here, in a wireless system using the centralized MAC protocol where a time synchronization and a band allocation may be performed by a single central control unit, when a signal blockage occurs while a data communication is being performed via a direct path between a source device and a destination device, the detour path may be quickly provided.
