Pump shoe for use in a pumping system of a dialysis machine
First Claim
1. A pumping system configured for use in a dialysis machine, wherein the dialysis machine comprises a housing defining an internal space, a pump roller positioned within the internal space, a receiver within the internal space configured to receive flexible tubing and position the flexible tubing relative to the pump roller, a door configured to open and provide access to the internal space, and a pump shoe, the pump shoe comprising:
- a member having a contact surface for receiving the flexible tubing, wherein the contact surface has a degree of curvature matching the curvature of the pump roller and imparting a concave shape for receiving the flexible tubing and an attachment surface opposite the contact surface configured to attach the pump shoe to a surface of the door; and
two side surfaces, opposite one another and perpendicular to the contact surface and the attachment surfaces, wherein an edge of each of the two side surfaces adjacent the contact surface extends outwardly beyond the contact surface, forming elevated side walls to contain the flexible tubing and adapted to prevent lateral movement of the flexible tubing along the contact surface during operation and wherein the contact surface is configured to receive the flexible tubing only when the door is closed.

Abstract
The specification discloses a portable dialysis machine having a detachable controller unit and base unit with an improved reservoir heating system. The controller unit includes a door having an interior face, a housing with a panel, where the housing and panel define a recessed region configured to receive the interior face of the door, and a manifold receiver fixedly attached to the panel. The base unit has a reservoir with an internal pan and external pan, separated by a space that holds a heating element. The heating element is electrically coupled to electrical contacts attached to the external surface of the external pan.
