Abstract

A personalized way to digitally record a person'"'"'s physical activities over time serves web searching, business advertising, nostalgia, security and object tracing purposes. The chronological digital history of the person'"'"'s physical presence over a time includes (i) digital network entries from other members who hold their portable wireless short range device near the person'"'"'s device and transmit a URL or other key data and (ii) digital member entries such a digital photograph of a store sign. The digital network entries and digital member entries are automatically transmitted to a database located on a telecommunications network at a time of entry. Advertisers can transmit to members when members enter premises of advertiser'"'"'s store. Upon sign-up online, the authentication data uniquely associated with an account is provided and key data they want to transmit is associated with the account. Digital histories can be used to improve web searching and networking opportunities.

Claims

1. A system for creating and/or using physical location histories, comprising:

a processing system connected to a telecommunications network;

an application that configures a handheld mobile communication device of each individual member of a member network to, upon instances of (i) a physical encounter between the individual member of the member network and a second individual member of the member network and upon instances of (ii) a physical encounter between the individual member and a stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at a physical premises of the stationary vendor member, transmit to the processing system, automatically, upon the physical encounter being recognized by short range communication, at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, thereby generating a location history entry in an account of the individual member and of any second individual member participating in the physical encounter, the location history entry including (i) the at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, (ii) a time and date of the physical encounter, (iii) a location of the second individual member or stationary vendor member and (iv) an identity of the individual member and of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member,

wherein a location of the individual member and the second individual member is determined by a positioning system, wherein the processing system is remote from the devices;

the application configured to maintain a physical encounter history viewable on the handheld mobile communication device and searchable from the handheld mobile communication device (i) by the identity of the stationary vendor member or individual member or second individual member, (ii) by a geographic location of the physical encounter and (iii) by time or date of the physical encounter,

the processing system including a database of physical encounter histories of members of the member network whose accounts received the location history entry that was generated during the physical encounters,

wherein the individual member'"'"'s account with the member network allows the physical encounter history to be accumulated through transmission of location history entries from multiple handheld mobile communication devices of the individual member over time,

the application downloadable onto a particular handheld mobile communication device from the processing system by using the account such that the system authorizes the particular handheld mobile communication device to transmit at least the location history entries of the physical encounters to the database,

the location history entries containing information about physical encounters between individual members and second individual members and information about physical encounters between individual members and stationary vendor members,

wherein the location history of a particular individual member includes at least one visual timeline of physical encounters of the particular individual member.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the location history of each individual member includes at least one visual timeline of physical encounters of that individual member.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the physical encounter history is searchable on the handheld mobile communication device by category of location history entry, wherein the categories of location history entries include visual images, audiovisual files, audio files and text files.

The system of claim 1, wherein the location history entries on the physical location histories are sortable on the handheld mobile communication device by category of location history entry, wherein the categories of location history entries include at least two of visual images, audiovisual files, audio files and text files.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the physical encounter history is searchable on the handheld mobile communication device by a type of business of the stationary vendor member.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the location history entries on the physical encounter history are sortable on the handheld mobile communication device by a type of business of the stationary vendor member.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the physical encounter history is accumulated through transmission of location history entries from multiple handheld mobile communication devices over time using the account.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein a search of a physical encounter history of the particular individual member is available to the particular individual member, upon the particular individual member signing in to the account at the processing system.

The system of claim 1, wherein upon the instances of physical encounters between the individual member and the stationary vendor member, the mobile communication device of the individual member automatically receives a proposal, to which the individual member'"'"'s mobile communication device is configured with an option to respond, to transmit the location history entry to the physical encounter history of the individual member.

The system of claim 9, wherein upon the instances of physical encounters between the individual member and the second individual member, the mobile communication device of the individual member automatically receives a proposal, to which the individual member'"'"'s mobile communication device is configured with an option to respond, to transmit the location history entry to the physical encounter history of the individual member.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the identity of the individual member and of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member is a URL of the individual member and the URL of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member.

12. A method of creating and/or using physical location histories, comprising:

maintaining a processing system connected to a telecommunications network;

providing an application that configures a handheld mobile communication device of each individual member of a member network to upon instances of (i) a physical encounter between the individual member and a second individual member of the member network and upon instances of (ii) a physical encounter between the individual member and a stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at a physical premises of the stationary vendor member, transmit to the processing system, automatically, upon the physical encounter being recognized by short range communication, at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, thereby generating a location history entry in an account of the individual member and of any second individual member participating in the physical encounter, the location history entry including (i) the at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, (ii) a time and date of the physical encounter, (iii) a location of the second individual member or stationary vendor member and (iv) an identity of the individual member and of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member,

wherein a location of the individual member and the second individual member is determined by a positioning system, wherein the processing system is remote from the devices,

wherein the individual member'"'"'s account with the member network allows the physical encounter history to be accumulated through transmission of location history entries from multiple handheld mobile communication devices of the individual member over time;

downloading the application from the processing system onto a particular handheld mobile communication device using the account such that the system authorizes the particular handheld mobile communication device to transmit at least the location history entries of the physical encounters to the database;

maintaining, by the application, a physical encounter history viewable on the handheld mobile communication device and searchable from the handheld mobile communication device (i) by the identity of the stationary vendor member or individual member or second individual member, (ii) by a geographic location of the physical encounter and (iii) by time or date of the physical encounter;

maintaining, using the processing system, a database of physical encounter histories of members of the member network whose accounts received the location history entry that was generated during the physical encounters; and

providing the location history of a particular individual member with at least one visual timeline of physical encounters of the particular individual member.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising providing the location history of each individual member with at least one visual timeline of physical encounters of that individual member.

The method of claim 12, further comprising sorting the location history entries of the physical encounter history on the handheld mobile communication device by category of location history entry, wherein the categories of location history entries include at least two of visual images, audiovisual files, audio files and text files.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising sorting the location history entries of the physical encounter history on the handheld mobile communication device by a type of business of the stationary vendor member.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising downloading the application to multiple handheld mobile communication devices over time using the account and accumulating the physical encounter history through transmission of location history entries from the multiple devices.

17. The method of claim 12, wherein a search of a physical encounter history of the particular individual member is available to the particular individual member, upon the particular individual member signing in to an account at the processing system.

The method of claim 12, wherein upon the instances of physical encounters between the individual member and the stationary vendor member, the mobile communication device of the individual member automatically receiving a proposal, to which the individual member'"'"'s mobile communication device is configured with an option to respond, to transmit the location history entry to the physical encounter history of the individual member.

The method of claim 18, wherein upon the instances of physical encounters between the individual member and the second individual member, the mobile communication device of the individual member automatically receiving a proposal, to which the individual member'"'"'s mobile communication device is configured with an option to respond, to transmit the location history entry to the physical encounter history of the individual member.

20. The method of claim 12, wherein the identity of the individual member and of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member is a URL of the individual member and the URL of either the second individual member or the stationary vendor member.

21. A system for creating and/or using physical location histories, comprising:

a processing system connected to a telecommunications network;

an application that configures a handheld mobile communication device of each individual member of a member network to, upon instances of a physical encounter between the individual member and a stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at a physical premises of the stationary vendor member,

(a) transmit to the processing system, automatically, upon the physical encounter being recognized by short range communication, at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, thereby generating a location history entry in an account of the individual member, the location history entry including (i) the at least one of a visual image, an audiovisual file, an audio file and a text file, (ii) a time and date of the physical encounter, (iii) a location of the stationary vendor member and (iv) an identity of the individual member and of the stationary vendor member, and

(b) automatically transmit to the handheld mobile communication device of the individual member a proposal, to which the individual member'"'"'s mobile communication device is configured with an option to respond, to transmit the location history entry to the physical encounter history of the individual member,

wherein a location of the individual member is determined by a positioning system, wherein the processing system is remote from the devices;

the application configured to maintain a physical encounter history viewable on the handheld mobile communication device and searchable from the handheld mobile communication device (i) by the identity of the stationary vendor member or individual member, (ii) by a geographic location of the physical encounter and (iii) by time or date of the physical encounter,

the processing system including a database of physical encounter histories of members of the member network whose accounts received the location history entry that was generated during the physical encounters,

wherein the individual member'"'"'s account with the member network allows the physical encounter history to be accumulated through transmission of location history entries from multiple handheld mobile communication devices of the individual member over time,

the application downloadable from the processing system onto a particular handheld mobile communication device by using the account such that the system authorizes the particular handheld mobile communication device to transmit at least the location history entries of the physical encounters to the database,

the location history entries showing information about encounters between individual members and stationary vendor members,

wherein the location history of a particular individual member includes at least one visual timeline of physical encounters of the particular individual member.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the identity of the stationary vendor member or individual member is a URL of the stationary member or a URL of the individual member.

23. The system of claim 21, wherein a search of a physical encounter history of the particular individual member is available to the particular individual member, upon the particular individual member signing in to the account at the processing system.

24. The system of claim 21, wherein the physical encounter history is accumulated through transmission of location history entries from multiple handheld mobile communication devices over time using the account.
