Abstract

The present application discloses systems and methods for marking an individual with an identifying substance. The system includes a spray delivery device configured to release a pressurized substance in response to an activation signal, an activation device configured to transmit an activation signal to the spray delivery device, and a power supply, configured to provide power to at least one of the activation devices and the spray delivery devices. The method includes storing a pressurized substance, receiving an activation signal at a spray delivery device, and releasing the pressurized substance in response to the received activation signal.

Claims

1. A system for marking an individual with an identifying substance, comprising:

a spray delivery device configured to release a pressurized substance in response to an activation signal;

an activation device communicatively coupled to the spray delivery device via a network and configured to transmit the activation signal to the spray delivery device;

an activation switch communicatively coupled to the activation device via the network, wherein the activation switch comprises a graphical user interface and is configured to trigger the activation device in response to a user command or an event;

a power supply, configured to provide power to the activation device, the spray delivery device or to both the activation device and the spray delivery device; and

wherein the activation device is configured to automatically transmit the activation signal to the spray delivery device in response to the activation switch being triggered by the user command or event, via a control system.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the pressurized substance is a spray that leaves an invisible film.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the spray is an ultraviolet light powder (UV powder).

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a network-enabled computer control system that controls the spray delivery device and the activation device.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a sensor communicatively coupled to the activation device, the sensor being configured to detect the presence of an activator and cause the activation device to automatically transmit the activation signal based on the presence of the activator.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a switch communicatively coupled to the activation device and electronically represented on a touch-screen of a mobile device.

7. A method for marking an individual with an identifying substance, comprising:

storing an identifying substance;

receiving, at an activation device, trigger data from an activation switch communicatively coupled to the activation device, wherein the activation switch comprises a graphical user interface and the trigger data is based on a user command or event received via the activation switch;

receiving an activation signal at a spray delivery device from the activation device communicatively coupled to the spray delivery device via a network; and

releasing the identifying substance in response to the activation signal.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the identifying substance is a spray that leaves an invisible film.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the spray is an ultraviolet light powder (UV powder).

10. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting the presence of an activator; and

causing the activation device to automatically transmit the activation signal based on the presence of the activator.

11. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

determining whether a manual switch has been activated; and

causing the activation device to transmit the activation signal based on the determination that the manual switch has been activated.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein the identifying substance is stored within a bank counter remote from a dispersal point of the identifying substance via a transport conduit.

13. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

maintaining actuators within a retail establishment, the actuators being coupled to the identifying substance and releasing the identifying substance in response to the activation signal.

14. A system for marking an individual with an identifying substance, comprising:

a spray delivery device configured to release an identifying substance in response to an activation signal via one or more transport conduits and one or more actuators;

an activation device communicatively coupled to the spray delivery device via a network;

an activation switch communicatively coupled to the activation device via the network, wherein the activation switch is configured to trigger the activation device in response to a user command or an event; and

a power supply, configured to provide power to the activation device, the spray delivery device, or to both the activation device and the spray delivery device,

wherein the activation device is configured to automatically transmit the activation signal to the spray delivery device in response to the activation switch being triggered by the user command or event.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the spray delivery device further comprises at least one storage container operably connected to the one or more transport conduits.

The system of claim 15, wherein the one or more transport conduits are communicatively coupled to one or more valves and one or more nozzles, and wherein the one or more valves are configured to selectively direct the identifying substance to a desired nozzle of the one or more nozzles for dispersal of the identifying substance.

The system of claim 16, wherein the one or more transport conduits are communicatively coupled to two or more valves and two or more nozzles, and wherein the two or more valves are configured to selectively direct the identifying substance to a desired one or more nozzles of the two or more nozzles for dispersal of the identifying substance.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein the spray delivery device is configured to release the identifying substance in a specific direction.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the spray delivery device is configured to release the identifying substance in a specific direction and at a given pressure, and wherein the spray delivery device is configured to release the identifying substance such that it is undetectable by a suspect.

20. The system of claim 14, wherein the activation switch is electronically represented on a touch-screen of a mobile device.
