1. A method for disseminating information regarding an event, the method comprising:

  • receiving and storing, in a mobile device that is wirelessly connected to a network, contact information corresponding to a designated list of at least one information recipient, wherein the mobile device is communicatively coupled to a wearable device that includes a finger-worn ring;

    determining, by the mobile device, a present location of the mobile device;

    receiving, at the mobile device, coordinates of an intended destination;

    monitoring movement of the mobile device from the present location to the intended destination, wherein monitoring the movement comprises monitoring movement of the mobile device from the present location to the intended destination independent of a route of movement of the mobile device;

    detecting that the mobile device has stopped making progress towards the intended destination based on determining that a relative distance between the present location of the mobile device and the intended destination has not decreased in successive measurements of a current distance between the mobile device and the intended destination;

    in response to detecting that the mobile device has stopped making progress towards the intended destination, starting a first timer for a first preselected time period;

    conditioned on determining that the mobile device has not resumed making progress towards the intended destination by an expiration of the first preselected time period, signaling the wearable device to generate a first alert for a second preselected time period, including signaling the finger-worn ring to generate vibrations;

    monitoring whether a user input is received within the second preselected time period to cancel the alert, wherein the user input is provided based on user activation of a input mechanism on the wearable device, wherein the input mechanism includes a button that is positioned on the finger-worn ring to be depressed by a thumb of a hand wearing the finger-worn ring;

    conditioned on expiration of the second preselected time period without receiving the user input to cancel the first alert, transmitting a second alert to one or more of the at least one information recipient, a preselected remote network server, or a public entity;

    continuously recording, using at least one of the mobile device or the wearable device, one or more of audio, location data or medical information of the user, wherein the continuous recording is performed upon user activation of a recording feature and wherein the audio, location data and the medical information are stored in local storage of the mobile device;

    upon a parameter corresponding to the stored recording of one or more of the audio, location data or the medical information reaching a predetermined threshold value, overwriting, in the local storage of the mobile device, previously stored audio, location data or medical information with a most recent recording of one or more of the audio, location data or the medical information,wherein the overwriting ceases in response to one of (i) obtaining a signal indicating transmission of the second alert, or (ii) receiving a user input to stop the continuous recording; and

    in response to the expiration of the second preselected time period without receiving the user input to cancel the first alert, transmitting, in conjunction with transmitting the second alert, to one or more of the at least one information recipient, the preselected remote network server, or the public entity, (i) at least one of the audio, location data or the medical information stored in local storage of the mobile device prior to obtaining the signal indicating transmission of the second alert, and (ii) at least one of the location data, medical information, audio, video or image recorded subsequent to obtaining the signal indicating transmission of the second alert.
