Abstract

The present disclosure relates to making payments with a mobile device. In one example process, the mobile device receives and stores information for one or more payment accounts on the mobile device. The mobile device is used to make payments using the payment accounts. In some examples, authorization to proceed with a payment is performed before each purchase made by the user. The authorization process can include receiving a verification of the user, such as a fingerprint scan or passcode. In some examples, a payment account is selected from among available payment accounts. In some examples, an indication is displayed of a digital item associated with a purchased item. In some examples, a payment transaction is initiated with participants of an ongoing communication. In some examples, an application of a retailer is invoked based on the availability of the application. In some examples, a purchase recommendation is provided.

Claims

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a display;

one or more processors; and

memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for;

displaying, on the display, a user interface for a communication application that includes a user interface indicative of ongoing communication between a user of the device and one or more other participants, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes a payment affordance;

while displaying the user interface indicative of the ongoing communication, detecting activation of the payment affordance; and

in response to detecting activation of the payment affordance, initiating a payment transaction between the user and the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication, including;

displaying, on the display, a second user interface different from the user interface, wherein the second user interface includes a request for user input corresponding to an amount of the payment transaction.

2. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

transferring recipient information from the communication application to a second application, wherein the recipient information identifies the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

3. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

displaying a user interface for the second application, wherein the user interface for the second application indicates the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication; and

proceeding with the payment transaction using the second application and a payment account linked to the electronic device.

4. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the communication application and the second application are different applications.

5. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the one or more other participants are within a defined proximity to the electronic device.

6. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes displayed representations of the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

7. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the payment transaction is initiated along with another communication.

8. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is one, enabling the user to initiate the payment transaction without explicitly identifying the recipient of the payment.

9. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is greater than one, requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction and user input indicating the one or more other participants are recipients of the payment transaction.

10. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the communication application is a messaging application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed conversation.

11. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the communication application is an electronic mail application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed electronic mail.

12. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the communication application is a phone application and the one or more other participants are participants of an active phone conversation.

13. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event.

14. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event that have accepted the displayed calendar event.

15. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein initiating the payment transaction includes requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction.

16. A method, comprising:

at an electronic device with a display;

displaying, on the display, a user interface for a communication application that includes a user interface indicative of ongoing communication between a user of the device and one or more other participants, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes a payment affordance;

while displaying the user interface indicative of the ongoing communication, detecting activation of the payment affordance; and

in response to detecting activation of the payment affordance, initiating a payment transaction between the user and the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication, including;

displaying, on the display, a second user interface different from the user interface, wherein the second user interface includes a request for user input corresponding to an amount of the payment transaction.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

transferring recipient information from the communication application to a second application, wherein the recipient information identifies the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

18. The method computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, further comprising:

displaying a user interface for the second application, wherein the user interface for the second application indicates the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication; and

proceeding with the payment transaction using the second application and a payment account linked to the electronic device.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the communication application and the second application are different applications.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the one or more other participants are within a defined proximity to the electronic device.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes displayed representations of the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

22. The method of claim 16, wherein the payment transaction is initiated along with another communication.

23. The method of claim 16, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is one, enabling the user to initiate the payment transaction without explicitly identifying the recipient of the payment.

24. The method of claim 16, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is greater than one, requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction and user input indicating the one or more other participants are recipients of the payment transaction.

25. The method of claim 16, wherein the communication application is a messaging application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed conversation.

26. The method of claim 16, wherein the communication application is an electronic mail application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed electronic mail.

27. The method of claim 16, wherein the communication application is a phone application and the one or more other participants are participants of an active phone conversation.

28. The method of claim 16, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event.

29. The method of claim 16, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event that have accepted the displayed calendar event.

30. The method of claim 16, wherein initiating the payment transaction includes requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction.

31. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display, the one or more programs including instructions for:

displaying, on the display, a user interface for a communication application that includes a user interface indicative of ongoing communication between a user of the device and one or more other participants, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes a payment affordance;

while displaying the user interface indicative of the ongoing communication, detecting activation of the payment affordance; and

in response to detecting activation of the payment affordance, initiating a payment transaction between the user and the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication, including;

displaying, on the display, a second user interface different from the user interface, wherein the second user interface includes a request for user input corresponding to an amount of the payment transaction.

32. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

transferring recipient information from the communication application to a second application, wherein the recipient information identifies the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

33. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32, the one or more programs including instructions for:

displaying a user interface for the second application, wherein the user interface for the second application indicates the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication; and

proceeding with the payment transaction using the second application and a payment account linked to the electronic device.

34. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32, wherein the communication application and the second application are different applications.

35. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32, wherein the one or more other participants are within a defined proximity to the electronic device.

36. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the user interface for the communication application includes displayed representations of the one or more other participants in the ongoing communication.

37. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the payment transaction is initiated along with another communication.

38. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is one, enabling the user to initiate the payment transaction without explicitly identifying the recipient of the payment.

39. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein initiating the payment transaction comprises:

determining the quantity of the one or more other participants; and

in accordance with a determination that the quantity of the one or more participants is greater than one, requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction and user input indicating the one or more other participants are recipients of the payment transaction.

40. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the communication application is a messaging application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed conversation.

41. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the communication application is an electronic mail application and the one or more other participants are participants of a displayed electronic mail.

42. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the communication application is a phone application and the one or more other participants are participants of an active phone conversation.

43. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event.

44. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the communication application is a calendar application and the one or more other participants are invitees of a displayed calendar event that have accepted the displayed calendar event.

45. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein initiating the payment transaction includes requesting user input indicating an amount of the payment transaction.
