1. A method performed by an access point (AP), the method comprising:

  • transmitting a multi-user MU request to send (RTS) frame to a plurality of stations (STAs), the MU RTS frame comprising a duration field;

    wherein the MU RTS frame solicits clear to send (CTS) frame responses from the plurality of STAs;

    receiving, from the plurality of STAs, simultaneous uplink (UL) orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) transmissions in response to the MU RTS fame;

    transmitting, to the plurality of STAs, another frame comprising UL transmission information for transmission of data frames by the plurality of STAs, wherein the UL transmission information includes a plurality of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) indicators, a plurality of data stream number indicators and a plurality of frequency resource allocations;

    receiving, from the plurality of STAs, the data frames simultaneously in accordance with the MCS indicators, the data stream number indicators and the plurality of frequency resource allocations; and

    transmitting an acknowledgement of the received data frames, to the plurality of STAs.
