1. An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
- a) a surface cleaning head having a front end, a rear end, a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends, a lateral plane that is transverse to the central longitudinal axis, first and second laterally opposed sides, a dirty air inlet and a surface cleaning head air outlet;
b) an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head between a generally upright position and a rearwardly inclined in use position, the upright section comprising a forwardly facing front face, a rearwardly facing rear face, a depth extending in a direction of the central longitudinal axis between the front face and the rear face of the upright section, a first lateral portion having a first lateral side, a second lateral portion having a second lateral side, an air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member and a suction motor having first and second lateral sides, the first lateral side of the upright section having a first clean air outlet and a first post-motor filter chamber housing a first post-motor porous filter media upstream of the first clean air outlet, and the second lateral side of the upright section having a second clean air outlet and a second post-motor filter chamber housing a second post-motor porous filter media upstream of the second clean air outlet; and
,c) an above floor cleaning wand and a flexible hose, wherein in a storage position, the flexible hose is positioned rearward of the first lateral portionwherein each of the post-motor porous filter media and the flexible hose has a depth in the direction of the central longitudinal axis and the depth of the upright section is generally equal to a combined depth of the depth of the post-motor porous filter media and the depth of the flexible hose.

a) a surface cleaning head having a front end, a rear end, a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends, a lateral plane that is transverse to the central longitudinal axis, first and second laterally opposed sides, a dirty air inlet and a surface cleaning head air outlet; b) an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head between a generally upright position and a rearwardly inclined in use position, the upright section comprising a forwardly facing front face, a rearwardly facing rear face, a depth extending in a direction of the central longitudinal axis between the front face and the rear face of the upright section, a first lateral portion having a first lateral side, a second lateral portion having a second lateral side, an air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member and a suction motor having first and second lateral sides, the first lateral side of the upright section having a first clean air outlet and a first post-motor filter chamber housing a first post-motor porous filter media upstream of the first clean air outlet, and the second lateral side of the upright section having a second clean air outlet and a second post-motor filter chamber housing a second post-motor porous filter media upstream of the second clean air outlet; and

10. An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprising:

a) a surface cleaning head having a front end, a rear end, a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends, a lateral plane that is transverse to the central longitudinal axis, first and second laterally opposed sides, a lateral direction extending between the first and second laterally opposed sides, a dirty air inlet and a surface cleaning head air outlet; and
,b) an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head between a generally upright position and a rearwardly inclined in use position, the upright section comprising a lateral portion having a forwardly facing front face, a rearwardly facing rear face, a depth extending in a direction of the central longitudinal axis between the front face and the rear face of the lateral portion of the upright section, a first lateral portion having a first lateral side, a second lateral portion having a second lateral side, an air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member and a suction motor having first and second lateral sides, the first lateral side of the upright section having a clean air outlet and a post-motor porous filter media located upstream of the clean air outlet, and the second lateral side of the upright section having a second clean air outlet and a second post-motor filter chamber housing a second post-motor porous filter media upstream of the second clean air outlet, wherein the upright section has a width in the lateral direction that is more than twice the depth of the upright section in the direction of the central longitudinal axis, and wherein the first and second post-motor porous filter media are each located laterally outwardly of the air treatment member and extend from the front face of the lateral portion of the upright section to the rear face of the lateral portion of the upright section, and wherein the air treatment member has a rear side that is rearward of a rear side of the first lateral portion. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
