1. A method of correcting scale for a multi-dimensional building model comprises:

  • identifying an architectural element located on at least a first plane of the multi-dimensional building model, wherein one or more of a plurality of planes of the multi-dimensional building model have been previously rectified and correlated to vertices of the one or more of the plurality of planes that make up at least a portion of the multi-dimensional building model and wherein the architectural element is automatically identified separately from the at least a first plane;

    determining one or more positions of the identified architectural element on the at least a first plane;

    selecting a known relative position of a known similar architectural element, wherein the known relative position of a known similar architectural element includes construction industry standards of a predetermined architectural standard position of a known similar architectural element and relative to a building plane, wherein the known similar architectural element is similar to the identified architectural element;

    comparing the determined one or more positions of the identified architectural element to the selected known relative position of the known similar architectural element to determine an error in position of the identified architectural element;

    determining a scale for the plane of the identified architectural element based on the error in position of the identified architectural element; and

    scaling the one or more planes of the plurality of planes of the multi-dimensional building model according to the determined scale.
