Abstract

There is provided a communication apparatus. A communication control controls a communication unit so as to connect to one of a plurality of external apparatuses. A transfer unit transfers a data item to an external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected. In a case that a transfer of the data item is failed, a storage control unit stores transfer failure information in which the data item is associated with a transfer-destination external apparatus. In a case that the communication unit has connected to a first external apparatus, a transfer control unit controls a transfer of a data item. If a data item included in the transfer failure information is associated with the first external apparatus, the transfer control unit performs control so as to automatically transfer the data item to the first external apparatus.

Claims

1. A communication apparatus comprising a processor and a memory storing a program which, when executed by the processor, causes the communication apparatus to function as:

a communication control unit configured to control a communication unit so as to connect to one of a plurality of external apparatuses;

a transfer unit configured to transfer a data item to an external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected;

a storage control unit configured to, in a case that a transfer of the data item to the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected is failed, store transfer failure information in which the data item is associated with the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected, in a storage unit; and

a transfer control unit configured to control, in a case that the communication unit has connected to a first external apparatus after a transfer of a data item by the transfer unit is failed, a transfer of a data item included in the transfer failure information,

wherein the transfer control unit performs control so as to, if a data item included in the transfer failure information is associated with the first external apparatus, automatically transfer the data item to the first external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, if a data item included in the transfer failure information is not associated with the first external apparatus, notify a user of the communication unit having connected to an external apparatus that is not associated with a data item included in the transfer failure information, accept, from the user, an instruction regarding whether or not a data item included in the transfer failure information is to be transferred, and if a transfer of the data item included in the transfer failure information is instructed, transfer the data item to the first external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising a setting unit configured to set whether or not the transfer control unit performs the notification, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, if the transfer control unit is set so as to not perform the notification, automatically transfer the data item included in the transfer failure information to the first external apparatus, regardless of whether or not the data item is associated with the first external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising a setting unit configured to set whether or not the transfer control unit performs the notification, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, if the transfer control unit is set so as to not perform the notification, not automatically transfer the data item included in the transfer failure information to the first external apparatus, if the data item is not associated with the first external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, if a data item included in the transfer failure information is not associated with the first external apparatus, display a user interface, on a display unit, for selecting a connection-destination external apparatus, and the communication control unit is configured to control the communication unit so as to connect to a second external apparatus selected in the user interface.

The communication apparatus according to claim 5, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, in a case where the communication unit has connected to the second external apparatus according to the selection performed in the user interface, automatically transfer the data item included in the transfer failure information to the second external apparatus, regardless of whether or not the data item is associated with the second external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 5, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, if the data item included in the transfer failure information is not associated with the first external apparatus, display information indicating an external apparatus with which the data item is associated, on the display unit.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the storage control unit is configured to perform control to store identification information for each of one or more external apparatuses, in the storage unit, the communication control unit is configured to control the communication unit so as to connect to an external apparatus corresponding to identification information selected from the storage unit, and the storage control unit is configured to perform control to, in a case where a change or deletion of the identification information corresponding to an external apparatus included in the transfer failure information is instructed by a user, notify the user of a data item being included in the transfer failure information, the data item being associated with the external apparatus corresponding to change or deletion target identification information, accept an instruction from the user regarding whether or not the change or deletion of the target identification information will be executed, and if the change or deletion of the target identification information is instructed to be executed, change or delete the target identification information.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, in a case where a plurality of data items are included in the transfer failure information, automatically transfer the data item, of the plurality of data items, associated with the first external apparatus to the first external apparatus.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer control unit is configured to perform control to, in a case where a plurality of data items are included in the transfer failure information, not perform automatic transfer with respect to all of the plurality of data items, if at least one of the plurality of data items is not associated with the first external apparatus.

11. An image capturing apparatus comprising:

the communication apparatus according to claim 1; and

an image capturing unit, wherein the data item is an image generated by the image capturing unit.

12. A control method executed by a communication apparatus, comprising:

controlling a communication unit so as to connect to one of a plurality of external apparatuses;

transferring a data item to an external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected;

in a case that a transfer of the data item to the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected is failed, storing transfer failure information in which the data item is associated with the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected, in a storage unit; and

in a case that the communication unit has connected to a first external apparatus after a transfer of a data item by the transfer unit is failed, controlling a transfer of a data item included in the transfer failure information,

wherein if a data item included in the transfer failure information is associated with the first external apparatus, the data item is automatically transferred to the first external apparatus.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium which stores a program for causing a computer to execute a control method comprising:

controlling a communication unit so as to connect to one of a plurality of external apparatuses;

transferring a data item to an external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected;

in a case that a transfer of the data item to the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected is failed, storing transfer failure information in which the data item is associated with the external apparatus to which the communication unit has connected, in a storage unit; and

in a case that the communication unit has connected to a first external apparatus after a transfer of a data item by the transfer unit is failed, controlling a transfer of a data item included in the transfer failure information,

wherein if a data item included in the transfer failure information is associated with the first external apparatus, the data item is automatically transferred to the first external apparatus.
