Abstract

There is provided a communication apparatus including: a first communication unit having a first communication range; a second communication unit having a second communication range wider than the first communication range; a control unit which transmits a request signal for starting communication via the second communication unit from the first communication unit to another communication apparatus, and transmits authentication information from the second communication unit to the another communication apparatus in the case where it is determined that communication with the another communication apparatus via the second communication unit is possible based on a response signal after the first communication unit receives the response signal in response to the request signal; and a notification unit which notifies a user after the second communication unit receives a result of authentication based on the authentication information.

Claims

1. A communication apparatus, comprising:

a first communication unit configured to transmit, using a first communication method, a response message including information indicating at least a second communication method to an information processing apparatus, in response to a request message from the information processing apparatus, wherein the second communication method is different from the first communication method;

a notification unit configured to perform a notification; and

a second communication unit configured to exchange data directly with the information processing apparatus, using the second communication method.

2. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit is configured to perform the notification when the second communication method is activated.

3. The communication apparatus of claim 2, wherein the notification unit is configured to perform the notification when the second communication method is deactivated.

4. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit is configured to perform the notification when the second communication method is deactivated.

5. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit is configured to perform the notification at a predetermined stage of a process.

6. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit is configured to perform the notification by sound or light.

7. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification indicates that the communication apparatus and the information processing apparatus are paired when a connection of the second communication unit is successful.

8. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit includes a speaker.

9. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein the notification unit includes an LED.

10. A communication method, comprising:

transmitting, by a first communication unit using a first communication method, a response message including information indicating at least a second communication method to an information processing apparatus, in response to a request message from the information processing apparatus, wherein the second communication method is different from the first communication method;

performing, by a notification unit, a notification; and

exchanging data, by a second communication unit, directly with the information processing apparatus, using the second communication method.

11. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit performs the notification when the second communication method is activated.

12. The communication method of claim 11, wherein the notification unit performs the notification when the second communication method is deactivated.

13. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit performs the notification when the second communication method is deactivated.

14. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit performs the notification at a predetermined stage of a process.

15. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit performs the notification by sound or light.

16. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification indicates that the communication apparatus and the information processing apparatus are paired when a connection of the second communication unit is successful.

17. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit includes a speaker.

18. The communication method of claim 10, wherein the notification unit includes an LED.

19. A computer readable medium storing instructions, which when executed by a communication apparatus, cause the communication apparatus to:

transmit, by a first communication unit using a first communication method, a response message including information indicating at least a second communication method to an information processing apparatus, in response to a request message from the information processing apparatus, wherein the second communication method is different from the first communication method;

perform, by a notification unit, a notification; and

exchange data, by a second communication unit, directly with the information processing apparatus, using the second communication method.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 19, wherein the notification unit performs the notification when the second communication method is activated.
