Systems and methods of automating consideration of low body mass risk
First Claim
1. A medical risk assessment system for body mass index, comprising:
- a graphical user interface configured to receive height, weight, age, and gender data via one or more data entry elements; and
calculator circuitry, comprising;
a body mass index calculator configured to use the height, weight, age, and gender data as inputs to determine a body mass index value; and
a category determination sub-system configured to determine an initial category based on the body mass index value;
a comparator configured to compare the body mass index value to a stored range associated with a low body mass index and determine if the body mass index value is within the stored range;
a wherein a dedicated portion of the graphical user interface is configured such that the dedicated portion of the graphical user interface is only active when the body mass index value is within the stored range and is inactive when the body mass index value is outside of the stored range, wherein the dedicated portion of the graphical user interface, when active, comprises one or more supplemental data entry elements that are accessible to receive supplemental data relating to age greater than or less than a threshold, presence or absence of weight stability over a predetermined time period, presence or absence of chronic mental or physical impairments, presence or absence of normal aspartate aminotransferase and alanine transaminase values, presence or absence of total cholesterol greater than a threshold value, and presence or absence of normal serum albumin,wherein the category determination sub-system is configured to determine an updated category relative to the initial category based on a perfect match between settings of a perfect match table calculator and the received supplemental data.

Abstract
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media automate determination of a risk category for low body mass index associated with issuance of an insurance policy. Embodiments include identifying an applicant having a body mass index within a predetermined range that qualifies for a first insurance rate category for low body mass index consideration or that requires medical director review for risk classification. Embodiments further include evaluating values for one or more characteristics of the applicant and determining whether the evaluated values qualify the applicant for a second insurance rate category for low body mass index consideration, where the second insurance rate category is more favorable than the first insurance rate category. The applicant'"'"'s insurance rate category can be updated upon determining that the applicant qualifies for the more favorable second insurance category.
