- a battery;
a data storage means;
a wireless communication means configured to communicate data related to therapy provided by the infusion pump to another device; and
a processor configured to;
collect and store the data related to therapy provided by the infusion pump in the data storage means; and
control communication of the data related to therapy provided by the infusion pump to another device so as to reduce energy consumption of the battery based on information contained in the data storage means by controlling how often the data related to therapy provided by the infusion pump is communicated to the another device,wherein the processor is configured to control the communication of the data to the other device based on occurrence of a predetermined event, andwherein the predetermined event is selected from a group consisting of a bolus delivery, a change in basal delivery rate, and an alarm.
