Multi-path mitigation in rangefinding and tracking objects using reduced attenuation RF technology
First Claim
1. A method for tracking and locating one or more wireless network devices in communication with a network, comprising:
- collecting at a node in the network samples of one or more uplink reference signals, the samples being configured by each in range wireless network device among the one or more wireless network devices based on a request from the node;
collecting at a locate server unit information regarding one or more network nodes, including the node, and the network;
at the locate server unit, based on the configuration of the samples, scheduling collection of each of the samples among the samples of each in range wireless network device;
without processing the collected samples for location calculation purposes at the node, sending the collected samples from the node to the locate server unit; and
at the locate server unit, calculating a location of each in range wireless network device based on the collected samples.

Abstract
An autonomous system with no Customer Network Investment is described, wherein the system is configurable to operate on in a band in addition to the LTE band. Such system allows the definition of hybrid operations to accommodate the positioning reference signals (PRS) of LTE and already existing reference signals. The system can operate with PRS, with other reference signals such as cell-specific reference signals (CRS), or with both signal types. As such, the system provides the advantage of allowing network operator(s) to dynamically choose between modes of operation depending on circumstances, such as network throughput and compatibility.
