1. A display apparatus comprising:
- a first substrate;
a second substrate facing the first substrate;
a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in columns and rows above the first substrate, the columns extending along a first direction and the rows extending along a second direction that is orthogonal to the first direction;
a plurality of common electrodes on the first substrate, each of the common electrodes overlapping widthwise two or more of the pixel electrodes;
an insulating layer between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes;
a plurality of pixel signal lines extending in the first direction;
a source driver that supplies a pixel signal to each of the pixel electrodes through a corresponding one of the pixel signal lines; and
a common electrode driver electrically coupled to each of the common electrodes,wherein,in a display period, the common electrode driver applies a constant voltage to all of the common electrodes and the source driver transmits a respective pixel signal to each of the pixel signal lines to display an image, andin a touch period that is different from the display period, the source driver supplies a pulse signal to one of the pixel signal lines and the common electrode driver makes a potential of a corresponding one of the common electrodes be in a state synchronized with the pulse signal.
