Abstract

Polymer particle embolics and methods of making same are described. The particle embolics can be used as embolization agents.

Claims

1. A polymer particle comprising:

poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide, glycerol monomethacrylate, and amino ethyl methacrylate;

wherein the polymer particle is spherical and has a diameter less than about 1,200 μ

m.

2. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the polymer particle has a diameter between about 40 μ

m and about 1,200 μ

m.

3. The polymer particle of claim 1, further comprising N,N-methylenebisacrylamide.

4. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the N,N-methylenebisacrylamide is at a concentration of about 1% w/w.

5. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide is at a concentration of about 28% w/w.

6. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the glycerol monomethacrylate is present at a concentration of about 68% w/w.

7. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the amino ethyl methacrylate at a concentration of about 3% w/w.

8. The polymer particle of claim 1, wherein the poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide is poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide 10,000.

9. The particle of claim 1, further comprising a drug.

10. A polymer particle comprising:

poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide, 3-sulfopropyl acrylate, and amino propyl methacrylamide,

wherein the polymer particle is spherical and has a diameter less than about 1,200 μ

m.

11. The polymer particle of claim 10, wherein the polymer particle has a diameter between about 40 μ

m and about 1,200 μ

m.

12. The polymer particle of claim 10, wherein the poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide is at a concentration of about 40% w/w.

13. The polymer particle of claim 10, wherein the at least one monomer is 3-sulfopropyl acrylate at a concentration of about 59% w/w.

14. The polymer particle of claim 10, wherein the amino propyl methacrylamide is at a concentration of about 1% w/w.

15. The polymer particle of claim 10, wherein the poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide is poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide 10,000.

16. The particle of claim 11, further comprising a drug.

17. A kit comprising:

a plurality of polymer particles in a container,

wherein the plurality of polymer particles comprise poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide, glycerol monomethacrylate, and amino ethyl methacrylate;

wherein the plurality of polymer particles are spherical and have a diameter less than about 1,200 μ

m.

18. The kit of claim 17, wherein the container is a vial or a syringe.

19. A kit comprising:

a plurality of polymer particles in a container,

wherein the plurality of polymer particles comprise poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylamide, 3-sulfopropyl acrylate, and amino propyl methacrylamide;

wherein the plurality of polymer particles are spherical and have a diameter less than about 1,200 μ

m.

20. The kit of claim 19, wherein the container is a vial or a syringe.
