1. A stent assembly comprising:
- a stent having a first end, a second end, and a tubular, mesh wall between the first end and the second end, the mesh wall being contiguous in circumferential and longitudinal directions from the first end to the second end, the stent having an untwisted rest configuration in the absence of external forces, and a twisted configuration in which the stent is twisted about the longitudinal axis from the rest configuration to a sufficient amount that a segment of the stent between the first and second ends collapses upon itself, forming a constriction,a sheath, wherein the stent is held in the sheath in the twisted configuration; and
a pusher having an elongate member at least partially disposed within the sheath and a stent-engagement member configured to abut and engage the stent.

Abstract
Stents can become twisted during deployment within tortuous vessels such that proper expansion against the vessel wall is inhibited. Stents can be twisted prior to deployment in a direction opposite the direction of twisting during deployment to facilitate full expansion of the stent against the vessel wall along the stent'"'"'s entire length.

7. A kit comprising:
- a plurality of stents, each stent comprising a first end, a second end, and a tubular, mesh wall between the first end and the second end, the mesh wall being contiguous in circumferential and longitudinal directions from the first end to the second end, each stent having an untwisted rest configuration in the absence of external forces, and a twisted configuration in which each stent is twisted about the longitudinal axis from the rest configuration to a sufficient amount that a segment of each stent between the first and second ends collapses upon itself, forming a constriction;
wherein a first stent of the plurality of stents is in the twisted configuration, and is twisted in a first rotational direction about the longitudinal axis from its rest configuration, wherein the first stent is held in the twisted first rotational direction by a first sheath;
a pusher having an elongate member at least partially disposed within the first sheath proximal to the first stent and a stent-engagement surface configured to abut and engage the first stent; and
wherein a second stent of the plurality of stents is in the twisted configuration, and is twisted in a second rotational direction, opposite the first rotational direction, about the longitudinal axis from its rest configuration, wherein the second stent is held in the twisted second rotational direction by a second sheath. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15)
