an electrical energy generator configured to convert environmental energy to electrical energy, wherein the electrical energy generator is more than one generation element selected from;
a mechanical to electrical energy convertor;
a thermoelectric generator;
a solar electricity generator;
a piezo generator; and
an RF power generatora control circuit configured to manage the electrical energy generated by the more than one generation elements;
a radio frequency, RF, communication circuit;
one or more sensors;
a controller configured to;
use the electrical energy generated by the electrical energy generator to transmit a data signal to the tag reader using the RF communication circuit and include data generated by the one or more sensors in the data signal;
an energy storage device configured to store electrical energy provided by the electrical generator and to supply the stored electrical energy for use by the controller and RF communication circuit; and
a management unit configured to prevent the tag from operating when insufficient power is available.
