1. An apparatus for monitoring a sleep parameter of a user, the apparatus comprising:
- an adhesive pad configured to conform to a surface of the user;
a first flexible element coupled to the adhesive pad and extending, in a first direction, from the adhesive pad, the first flexible element including a conductive fabric material and configured to exhibit a modified electrical property in response to an applied force;
a power source electrically coupled to the first flexible element;
an electrical circuit electrically coupled to the power source and the first flexible element, the electrical circuit configured to detect, during use, a change in an electrical property of the first flexible element; and
a second flexible element not configured to exhibit a modified electrical property in response to an applied force, the second flexible element extending, in a second direction substantially parallel to the first direction, from the adhesive pad.

The flexible element includes a conductive fabric, and exhibits a modified electrical property in response to an applied force. The apparatus also includes a power source electrically coupled to the flexible element, and an electrical circuit electrically coupled to the power source and the flexible conductive element. The electrical circuit is configured to detect, during use, a change in an electrical property of the flexible element.
