Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure relate a head-worn computer with a see-through display wherein computer content is presented to a user wearing the head-worn computer and through which the user sees a surrounding environment, wherein the see-through display generates image light comprised of narrow bandwidths of red, green and blue light and wherein the see-through display further includes a tristimulus notch mirror positioned to reflect the image light towards the user'"'"'s eye, and wherein the tristimulus notch mirror reflects less than a full width half max of the red image light.

Claims

1. A wearable device, comprising:

a light source configured to generate image light comprising a first bandwidth of red light, a second bandwidth of green light, and a third bandwidth of blue light;

a see-through display configured to present the image light to a user; and

a notch mirror positioned to reflect the image light towards an eye of the user.

2. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the see-through display comprises an emissive display.

3. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the see-through display comprises a reflective display.

4. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the notch mirror exhibits bands of high reflectivity separated by bands of low reflectivity and high transmission.

5. The wearable device of claim 4, wherein the bands of high reflectivity correspond with one or more of the first bandwidth, the second bandwidth, and the third bandwidth.

6. The wearable device of claim 5

wherein a band of the bands of high reflectivity of the notch mirror matches a full width half max (FWHM) of a corresponding bandwidth of the one or more of the first bandwidth, the second bandwidth, and the third bandwidth.

7. The wearable device of claim 5,

wherein a band of the bands of high reflectivity of the notch mirror is narrower than a full width half max (FWHM) of a corresponding bandwidth of the one or more of the first bandwidth, the second bandwidth, and the third bandwidth.

8. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the see-through display is configured to pass light from a surrounding environment, the passed light comprising a wavelength of an LED.

9. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the see-through display is configured to pass light from a surrounding environment, the passed light comprising a wavelength associated with a warning light.

10. The wearable device of claim 4, wherein the image light is filtered to provide filtered image light with emission bands that correspond to the bands of high reflectivity of the notch mirror.

11. The wearable device of claim 1, further comprising a notch filter configured to convert the image light from a first band spectrum to a seconder band spectrum narrower than the first band spectrum.

12. The wearable device of claim 11, wherein the notch filter comprises a multilayer coating or a multilayer film.

13. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the notch mirror comprises a layer of a combiner surface, the combiner surface having a concave surface configured to face an eye of the user.

14. The wearable device of claim 13, wherein the combiner surface is configured to reduce a color shift in the image light reflected from the notch mirror.

15. The wearable device of claim 1, wherein the notch mirror is disposed on a curved surface such that an angle of incidence of rays of the image light is substantially normal to a surface of the notch mirror.

16. The wearable device of claim 13, wherein the combiner surface is internal to a solid member comprising a plurality of transparent pieces.

17. The wearable device of claim 16, wherein two or more of the plurality of transparent pieces have a same refractive index.

18. The wearable device of claim 16, wherein a transparent piece of the plurality of transparent pieces provides a refractive effect with respect to the image light.

19. The wearable device of claim 16, wherein the solid member further comprises a beam splitter layer.

20. The wearable device of claim 16, wherein the solid member further comprises a front surface and a back surface that is parallel to the front surface.
