First Claim
1. An accessory attachment assembly for a helmet, comprising:
- a visor comprising a lens having a width adapted to span from a user'"'"'s first eye to a user'"'"'s second eye when the visor is in a deployed position, and adapted to provide a primary viewing area that includes a straight ahead line of sight from both of the user'"'"'s eyes when the visor is in the deployed position; and
a mounting arrangement adapted to attach the visor to the helmet, the mounting arrangement comprising a helmet mount, an arm, a link, and a visor mount, wherein;
the helmet mount is adapted to be mounted to a center front position on the helmet;
the visor mount is adapted to couple with the visor;
the visor mount is adapted to connect to the helmet mount such that the visor is attachable to the helmet mount at only the center front position on the helmet;
the arm and the link are adapted to guide the visor between the deployed position and a standby position that is raised from the deployed position;
the arm is pivotally coupled to the helmet mount about a first pivot axis and is pivotally coupled to the visor mount about a second pivot axis;
the link is pivotally coupled to the helmet mount about a third pivot axis and is pivotally coupled to the visor mount about a fourth pivot axis; and
the first, second and third pivot axes are distinct from one another.

Abstract
A helmet assembly includes a face shield and a single, center top mounting arrangement that operatively connects a center top location of the face shield to a center front mount on the helmet. The face shield can be raised and lowered about a pivot axis provided in the mounting arrangement between a tilted up, non-use position and a lowered, deployed position. The mounting arrangement can include a detent and two recesses, wherein the detent engages a first recess at a slightly forwardly displaced position to allow ventilation between the helmet and mandible and the face shield and a second recess at the tilted up, non-use position. The recess and detent engagement can be overcome by easy manual force acting on the face shield to reposition the face shield.
