Abstract

A method for automatically positioning information related to a commodity on a graphical user interface. Market information is displayed on the graphical user interface. The market information may be presented as a number of indicators, corresponding to particular items of interest, that are associated with a static scale. The scale may, for example, represent price. Upon detecting a predetermined condition, the location of the market information is automatically repositioned.

Claims

1. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to carry out acts comprising:

receiving, via a computing device, market information for a tradeable object, the market information being received from an electronic exchange and identifying an inside market for the tradeable object;

displaying, via a display of the computing device, a trading interface configured to receive input from a user of the computing device;

dynamically displaying, via the trading interface, the inside market relative to a price scale according to the market information, where the display of the inside market relative to the price scale changes as the market information changes; and

automatically re-positioning, via the trading interface, the inside market in response to a predetermined condition, where automatically re-positioning includes changing the scale of prices and moving the inside market with respect to the trading interface to a predetermined location, where the predetermined condition comprises expiration of a predetermined time.

2. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the price scale comprises a static price scale.

3. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the inside market comprises a highest bid price for the tradeable object.

4. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the inside market comprises a lowest ask price for the tradeable object.

5. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the market information further identifies market depth for the tradeable object.

6. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 5 further comprising dynamically displaying, via the trading interface, the market depth relative to the price scale according to the market information.

7. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the inside market moves up and down relative to the price scale according to changes in market information.

8. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the predetermined condition comprises a timer reaching a predetermined time.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the predetermined condition comprises determining that the inside market is outside a viewable area of the trading interface.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 where the predetermined condition comprises determining that the inside market is more than a predetermined distance from a location on the trading interface.

11. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to carry out acts comprising:

receiving, via a computing device, market information for a tradeable object, the market information being received from an electronic exchange and identifying a last traded price for the tradeable object;

displaying, via a display of the computing device, a trading interface configured to receive input from a user of the computing device;

dynamically displaying, via the trading interface, the last traded price relative to a price scale according to the market information, where the display of the last traded price relative to the price scale changes as the market information changes; and

automatically re-positioning, via the trading interface, the last trade price in response to a predetermined condition, where automatically re-positioning includes changing the scale of prices and moving the inside market with respect to the trading interface to a predetermined location, where the predetermined condition comprises expiration of a predetermined time.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the price scale comprises a static price scale.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the market information further identifies an inside market and market depth for the tradeable object, where the inside market and market depth for the tradeable object are dynamically displayed relative to the price scale according to the market information.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the last traded price moves up and down relative to the price scale according to changes in market information.

15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the predetermined condition comprises a timer reaching a predetermined time.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the predetermined condition comprises determining that the last traded price is outside a viewable area of the trading interface.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 where the predetermined condition comprises determining that the last traded price is more than a predetermined distance from a location on the trading interface.
