1. A method comprising:

  • obtaining observed channel response data from a motion detection system, the observed channel response data based on wireless signals transmitted over a plurality of wireless links in a space, the observed channel response data associated with a plurality of subcarriers for each wireless link over a period of time;

    generating estimated channel response data for each of the plurality of subcarriers for each wireless link;

    identifying transitions between zones of activity in the estimated channel response data for each of the plurality of subcarriers for each wireless link;

    detecting a new motion zone of the motion detection system based on the estimated channel response data and the identified transitions; and

    adjusting a number of motion zones in an adaptive model, wherein the number of motion zones is a hyperparameter of the adaptive model.
