- collecting electronic fitness data related to a fitness activity on a portable electronic device, the portable electronic device further including a microprocessor, a satellite positioning system receiver, a wireless communication transceiver, and a display;
generating electronic pace data based on the electronic fitness data;
displaying a route map on the display, the route map being based on electronic route path information representing a route traversed during the fitness activity, the electronic route path information including global positioning satellite waypoints of the route;
displaying a graphical representation of the electronic pace data as an overlay on the route map such that the graphical representation corresponds to an instantaneous pace at each of the global positioning satellite waypoints.
