Abstract
Examples described herein enable “in situ” sensing, which collects and analyzes physiological responses from a large group of viewers/audiences who watch a same media instance together at a single venue. Each of the group of viewers is fitted with physiological sensors with communication capabilities to communicate with a signal collection device at or near the venue. The signal collection device collects the physiological data of the viewers from the sensors, and transmits the physiological data to a processing module at another location via a network for storage and further analysis.

8. A method comprising:
-
analyzing, by executing an instruction with a first processor, first user data gathered by a first sensor of a first headset worn by a first user during exposure to media, the first headset including the first processor, the first user data including at least one of psychophysiological data or physiological data indicative of at least one of sleep, motion, or talking; removing, by executing an instruction with the first processor, first data corresponding to a time period during which the first user was not paying attention to the media to form first pre-processed data; transmitting, via a first transmitter associated with the first headset, the first pre-processed data to a central processor; analyzing, by executing an instruction with a second processor, second user data gathered by a second sensor of a second headset worn by a second user during exposure to the media, the second headset including the second processor, the second user data including at least one of psychophysiological data or physiological data indicative of at least one of sleep, motion, or talking; removing, by executing an instruction with the second processor, second data corresponding to a time period during which the second user was not paying attention to the media to form second pre-processed data; transmitting, via a second transmitter associated with the second headset, the second pre-processed data to the central processor; and generating, by executing an instruction with the central processor, a rating score for the media based on the first pre-processed data and the second pre-processed data; and storing the rating score in a memory. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)
