- a liquid crystal display, operable to selectively transmit light;
a switchable mirror, operable to switch from a pellucid state to a reflective state; and
a thin film circuit layer;
the liquid crystal display comprising a liquid crystal layer disposed between a first substrate and a second substrate, wherein the first substrate and the second substrate comprise the only rigid substrates of the display device;
wherein the switchable mirror is also disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and is attached to the second substrate;
the thin film transistor circuit layer disposed along a surface of the switchable mirror such that the switchable mirror is between the thin film transistor circuit layer and the second substrate.

To preserve color integrity, a color filter and a switchable mirror is also disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate.

one or more processors; and a display, operable with the one or more processors, the display comprising; one or more substrates consisting essentially of a first glass substrate and a second glass substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a color filter; a thin film transistor circuit layer; and a switchable mirror, operable with the one or more processors to selectively transition between a pellucid state and a reflective state; the switchable mirror, the thin film transistor circuit layer, the liquid crystal layer, and the color filter disposed between the first glass substrate and the second glass substrate with the liquid crystal layer disposed between the color filter and the thin film transistor circuit layer, the thin film transistor circuit layer disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the switchable mirror, and the switchable mirror disposed between the thin film transistor circuit layer and the second glass substrate. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18)
