First Claim
1. A surgical stapler configured to clamp, staple, and cut the tissue of a patient, wherein said surgical stapler comprises:
- a housing;
a shaft extending from said housing, wherein said shaft comprises;
a first actuator, wherein said first actuator is actuatable relative to said housing;
a second actuator, wherein said second actuator is concentric with said first actuator, wherein said second actuator is actuatable relative to said housing, and wherein said second actuator is operable independently of said first actuator; and
a third actuator, wherein said third actuator is concentric with said first actuator and said second actuator, wherein said third actuator is actuatable relative to said housing, and wherein said third actuator is operable independently of said first actuator and said second actuator;
a staple cartridge comprising a unitary, one-piece staple cartridge body, wherein said staple cartridge comprises staples removably stored therein;
an anvil movable between an open position and a closed position relative to said staple cartridge, wherein said anvil comprises a rotary system, wherein said rotary system is configured to transition said anvil from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration; and
an end effector configured to perform;
a first end effector function in response to the actuation of said first actuator, wherein said first end effector function comprises ejecting said staples from said staple cartridge;
a second end effector function in response to the actuation of said second actuator, wherein said second end effector function comprises moving said anvil between said open position and said closed position; and
a third end effector function in response to the actuation of said third actuator, wherein said third end effector function comprises transitioning said anvil from said collapsed configuration to said expanded configuration, and wherein the first, second, and third end effector functions are separate and distinct.

Abstract
A surgical stapler configured to clamp, staple, and cut tissue is disclosed. The surgical stapler comprises a housing, a shaft, a staple cartridge, an expandable anvil, and a distal head portion. The shaft extends from the housing and comprises three concentric actuators. The three concentric actuators are operable independently of each other. The three concentric actuators are actuatable relative to the housing and are configured to perform three separate and distinct end effector functions. The staple cartridge comprises a unitary cartridge body. The distal head portion is configured to rotate relative to the shaft. One of the separate and distinct end effector functions comprises rotating the distal head portion to expand the anvil.
