1. A clot retrieval device for removing clot from a blood vessel, the device having a collapsed delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration and comprising:

  • a shaft extending between a proximal end and a distal end; and

    an expandable body extending distally of the distal end of the shaft, the expandable body comprising;

    a plurality of clot scaffolding sections connected by hinge elements configured to self-align the clot scaffolding sections for articulating in bends of the vasculature, wherein each hinge element is the only point of contact between respective clot scaffolding sections; and

    at least one clot inlet mouth between adjacent clot scaffolding sections,wherein regions of the plurality of clot scaffolding sections are configured to exert an outward radial force on the clot to urge the clot towards the at least one clot inlet mouth; and

    wherein the expandable body comprises a plurality of struts and at least some of the plurality of struts include a series of clot engagement protrusions.
