1. A stent, the stent comprising:

  • an elongated tubular member comprising at least one filament interwoven to form a plurality of cells, the elongated tubular member configured to move between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, wherein in the collapsed configuration the plurality of cells have a first profile and in the expanded configuration the plurality of cells have a second profile different from the first profile; and

    at least one barb fixed to the at least one filament at one end of the barb and extending along a length of the barb towards a free end, each barb having a width transverse to the length;

    wherein the free end of the at least one barb is configured to be positioned radially inward of and under an adjacent winding of the at least one filament such that the adjacent winding extends over an entirety of the width of the barb when the elongated tubular member is in the collapsed configuration and to extend radially away from the elongated tubular member when the elongated tubular member is in the expanded configuration.
