Abstract

A hub assembly includes a retainer housing, a retaining member, a biasing element, and an occlusion. The retainer housing includes a wheel mounting sleeve and a pin sleeve. The wheel mounting sleeve includes an axle bore configured to receive an axle. The pin sleeve has a first end and a second end. The pin sleeve includes a conduit between the first end and the second end. The first end is in fluid communication with the axle bore. The retaining member and the biasing element are in the conduit. The retaining member is configured to engage a groove in an axle. The biasing element is configured to bias the retaining member towards the axle bore. The occlusion is proximate to the second end of the pin sleeve. The occlusion is configured to inhibit the retaining member from exiting the conduit at least prior to coupling the hub assembly to a wheel.

Claims

1. An assembly comprising:

a sleeve including;

a first end comprising a shoulder,

a second end, and

a lumen between the first end and the second end;

a retaining member in the lumen, the retaining member comprising a lip wider than the shoulder to inhibit the retaining member from exiting the first end of the sleeve; and

an occlusion configured to inhibit the retaining member from exiting the second end of the sleeve.

2. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the occlusion comprises a deformation.

3. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the occlusion comprises a plurality of ledges.

4. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising a biasing element in the lumen.

5. The assembly of claim 4, wherein the biasing element abuts the lip and the occlusion.

6. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the retaining member comprises a chamfered end configured to extend out of the first end.

7. An assembly comprising:

a sleeve including;

a first end,

a second end, and

a lumen between the first end and the second end;

a retaining member in the lumen;

first means for inhibiting the retaining member from exiting the first end of the sleeve; and

second means for inhibiting the retaining member from exiting the second end of the sleeve.

8. The assembly of claim 7, wherein the first means comprises a lip and a shoulder.

9. The assembly of claim 7, wherein the second means comprises a deformation of the sleeve.

10. The assembly of claim 7, wherein the second means comprises a plurality of ledges extending into the sleeve.

11. The assembly of claim 7, further comprising means for biasing the retaining member towards the first end.

12. The assembly of claim 11, wherein the means for biasing comprises a spring.

13. The assembly of claim 7, wherein the retaining member comprises a chamfered end configured to extend out of the first end.

14. An assembly comprising:

a sleeve including;

a first end,

a second end, and

a lumen between the first end and the second end;

a retaining member in the lumen;

a passageway in a side of the sleeve, wherein a tool inserted through the passageway interacts with the retaining member to move the retaining member towards the second end; and

an occlusion configured to inhibit the retaining member from exiting the second end of the sleeve.

15. The assembly of claim 14, wherein the occlusion comprises a deformation.

16. The assembly of claim 14, wherein the occlusion comprises a plurality of ledges.

17. The assembly of claim 14, wherein the retaining member comprises a lip, wherein the tool inserted through the passageway interacts with the lip.

18. The assembly of claim 14, further comprising a puncture skin at least partially covering the passageway.

19. The assembly of claim 14, wherein the retaining member comprises a chamfered end configured to extend out of the first end.
