1. A method for treating an aneurysm, the method comprising:
- intravascularly delivering a delivery device and an expandable implant within the delivery device to an aneurysm, the implant including;
a proximal portion configured to be removably coupled to a delivery member;
a first braid having a proximal region fixed at the proximal portion and a distal region opposite the proximal region along the length of the first braid;
a second braid having a proximal region fixed at the proximal portion and a distal region opposite the proximal region along the length of the second braid;
wherein at least one of the first braid and the second braid comprise a flattened tubular braid; and
expanding the implant to form a three-dimensional structure, wherein expanding the implant includes;
releasing the distal region of the first braid from the delivery device; and
releasing the distal region of the second braid from the delivery device before the proximal region of the first braid is released from the delivery device.

Abstract
Devices and methods for treating vascular defects, such as, for example, balloon-type aneurysms, are described herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes an insertion portion and an expandable implant. The expandable implant is configured to be deployed in an aneurysm and is coupled to the insertion portion. The expandable implant has a first portion and a second portion coupled to the first portion. The expandable implant is movable between a first configuration in which the first portion and the second portion are substantially linearly aligned and a second configuration in which the second portion at least partially overlaps the first portion.

12. A method for treating an aneurysm, the method comprising:
-
intravascularly delivering a delivery device and an expandable implant within the delivery device to an aneurysm, the implant including; a proximal portion configured to be removably coupled to a delivery member; a first mesh having a proximal region fixed at the proximal portion and a distal region opposite the proximal region along the length of the first mesh; a second mesh having a proximal region fixed at the proximal portion and a distal region opposite the proximal region along the length of the second mesh; wherein at least one of the first mesh and the second mesh comprise a mesh formed of a tubular mesh flattened along at least a portion of its longitudinal axis such that opposing sidewalls of the tubular mesh are urged towards one another; and expanding the implant such that the first and second meshes together form a predetermined three-dimensional structure, wherein expanding the implant includes releasing the implant from the delivery device. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
